diciplinary action on Rodney Morris during UPA`s World Summit pool

As far as the UPA is concerned, there isn't any future events planned at this point.
Rodney may have a life time ban if there isn't anymore UPA events... LOL

I am shocked by the sentiment that the upa handled this wrong. I know a lot of people like Morris and dislike the upa, but the disqualification seems obvious here. There is no place for this type of behavior in professional sports. I think the above statement about sports is incorrect. Soccer has red cards, basebll umps throw players out of games routinely, and football players are removed from games for fighting. To throw rodney out of this tournament for threatning behavior and a significant lack of professionalism is the obvious course of action. What should be debated is whether or not he will receive a suspension from any further events. That would follow the norm in sports for this type of behavior. Whether you like the upa or not, it appears they are handling this correctly so far, at least according to the facts as they have been presented.

Probably a lot of aggression Morris picked up in jail.

That was a pretty tasteless, low blow for no reason that happens to also be incorrect. That part of his past was many, many yrs ago. Probably safe to say that we would've noticed "aggression problems" before now, don't you think?

I've known Rodney for many yrs, and like the rest of us, he's not a saint. He is a pretty easy going guy that's quick with a smile and has always been polite when approached by fans and accommodating when pics & autographs are requested.

Back to the topic at hand, I think Frank did the right thing. Had he extended any kind of lax due to friendship courtesy, he would've been raked over the coals up one side & down the other on here. I'm familiar with his opponent and I know that he, like any number of people, can try someones patience. Rodney had a "human moment" and suffered the consequences for it. Johnny Archer is a heckuva nice guy and some folks think he's the epitome of professionalism and even he has had heated moments during a tournament. They're competitive humans in the heat of battle, tempers are going to fly at times.

What was the score between Stevie and Gomez? Isn't Roberto Gomez "Superman", who almost won the 9 ball championship a couple of years ago?

I was watching Stevie More V gomez match at the other end of the arena and I do not know the answer to your question.
Today at 1pm is the finals and I will be there to watch that final.during that time I may be able to gather some info.

Have been having hard time getting the info. The dispute was not over the illegally moved balls as mentioned by me earlier.it is my understanding that the dispute/conflict/arguments between the two players was over sharking each other.I do not know who started sharking first.I heard from one pro in a restroom that rodney was doing some text messaging while Mike was at table.Folks,I was unable to get the correct picture.Eventhough I spoke to mike before today`s match I did not bring up that issue because I did not want to distract him from his match today.
In the finals today Thorston won the first set 13-7.He has to beat dechaine two time to win the tournament.Secondset is going on now.
By the way JCIN was not there.don`t you guys make JCIN angry. He is a huge guy and if he sits on you you will stop breathing.

For the finals they did NOT charge at the gate and it was free for everybody. There were around 75 spectators during the first set.I left the arena and I do not know how many are there for the second set.

For the finals today it was free and nobody had to pay to get in to see the matches.

Tasteless......NO

Low blow......POSSIBLY

"and like the rest of us, he's not a saint"......Please, don't dare make that comparison. How many people do you know did what he did. And if it's more than one, you're hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I will not get into a self righteous colloquium with you. We've both stated our opinions on the matter and neither one of us is going to change the others' view. I've no desire to go down a road that only leads to a flame war that in the end will serve no purpose. Have a good day.

Last I checked noone here ran with a "Saint" in front of their name. Certainly not me, and by rackemcrackem's admission he is not one. Rodney isn't one....Anyone here a Saint? I guess "Saint Louie" (LMAO) is the only "Saint" here eh?

You have got to be kidding. Someone starts a thread about what happened at the world summit of pool involving Rodney Morris & you come on here bring up & blaming it on something that happened umteen years ago in his past. You prim & proper folks must have to work real hard to be as perfect as you are. I would suggest you put your nose down before you drown when it rains.

well damn, I guess I will have to put down the popcorn now. ;)

The following apology was sent to us by Rodney today....

I would like to extend my most sincerest apology to the UPA, ACS, staff at the World Summit of Pool, my friends and family, my sponsor Kamuitips.com, fans, and my fellow pool players.

This past Friday I was playing a match and I let my emotions get the better of me and I walked out in the middle of the match. I disrespected myself and this wonderful game. There's no excuse for the behavior that I exhibited and I am 100% in the wrong for walking out. I realize that I'm only human and make mistakes, but there still has to be a penalty. My being forfeited in my next match is fair to me, as I feel that's what should happen when you act the way I did. Once again I would like to say I'm sorry to everyone that was affected by my actions this past weekend.

That's good enough for me. I don't believe I've ever heard Earl post an apology for the many times he's walked at a tournament. Johnnyt
