Did skid stop Efren's run?

Efren runs 123 balls, on his way to a possible 150 and out. He then misses the one ball pretty badly at the 4:30 mark.

Was he the victim of skid? Did he just miss the shot that badly (missed by about a diamond)?

Can't tell for sure, but IMO skid screwed him. What do you think? (BTW, it was a great run.)

I agree...he just missed it...earlier in the rack, his cut shots weren't clean either...this one he cheated it too much...
 
I Dont think that it skidded either. i think he was careless and shot it Non-shalantly... Excuse my spelling !
 
yea, that just looked like a miss to me.

or maybe he wanted to go out for a smoke......bathroom break? :)
 
The video can't tell conclusively one way or the other. You guys may be right that he just flat out dogged it. Normally I wouldn't give a missed shot a second thought, but that miss got my attention simply at how badly he missed it. Also, the way the one ball came off the CB doesn't look exactly right to me.

Another clue is the way Efren reacted, both immediately after he stroked the shot and after the ball was missed. I've seen several instances of Efren missing shots badly, and in almost all those instances he would jump up immediately after stroking the shot as if he knew the shot would be missed even before the OB reached the pocket. In this particular shot, he didn't immediately jump up after stroking the shot, even though he missed the shot badly.

And the biggest clue to me is that Efren didn't smile after he missed the shot. Usually he smiles if he completely screws up.
 
It looks like he just carelessly shot the ball into the rail. BTW, that's my signature shot.
 
Skids are pretty tough to to spot via video. Half the time it's the sound that alerts me more than the visuals, and visually it's a lot easier to spot with a striped ball. This was the 1 ball.

If I had to guess I'd say it was a skid. Efren got down and put the same level of care into that shot as he would any other routine cut (like 100 of the balls before it). He didn't just run up and jab at it. He took his customary warmup strokes and looked focused and stayed down. Even if his mind is a little numbed after 123 balls, he simply doesn't miss that cut. He doesn't know how.
 
That CB must have been a CB that was scratched or damaged by a phenolic material tip before the match was played :D jk
