DigiBall passaround - Sign Up Is Full

Hello everyone, we have another exciting passaround opportunity for members to demo the new DigiBall training tool!

We have done this in the past for DigiCue and DigiCue Blue with great success and Nate has reached out once again and wanted to get the forum involved and introduced to the new DigiBall.

Details about the DigiBall can be found in the post following this one (all content provided by Nate)

Requirements:

US Resident (sorry, would love to make it global but shipping costs and times are just too great for something like this)

Must have an iOS or Android device

Established member with 500+ posts

100% iTrader rating with at least 5 transactions

Willing to abide by the rules of the passaround (hold for no more than 7 days, ship in timely manner to next person on the list, make sure DigiBall leaves you in the same condition it arrives)

Willing to pay for shipping to the next person and stay on schedule (USPS Priority)

Willing to come back to AZB and post a review (review thread will be setup once passaround starts)

**if you meet most of the criteria but not all and think you should still be considered, please contact me. Established/known members who don't sell much for example or who sell a lot but maybe don't post as much might be considered on an individual basis.

If you would like to be involved in this please post to this thread stating that you are willing to abide by the rules stated. If you meet all the criteria I will add your name to the list. The list will be limited to 10 participants. If you feel you should be allowed to participate without meeting the criteria, please post indicating as such in this thread and send me a PM so I can review.

I'll be taking signups on a first come/first serve basis. Names will be added to the list as I'm able to review them, but post order will dictate the order in which I review and add participants so even if you're not sure if you're able to qualify, please post here first stating your intention and then send any supporting info via private conversation.

Once you have been added to the list I will send you a PM to get your address information so I can compile the shipping list. Passaround order will be determined by geographical location and not signup order. This helps keep shipping time and costs to a minimum.

I will need the following information from you for the passaround:
• First Name
• Last Name
• Shipping Address
• Phone Number
• Email Address

This passaround will be limited to 10 participants

Be Kind – Please Rewind

Before shipping to the next person on the list please do the following:

  • Charge the ball for 4 hours.
  • Restore default settings if changed.
  • Put ball into Ship Mode.
  • Clean the ball to remove marks/scuffs.
  • Package the ball in the pouch it came in. Do not place other objects in the pouch with the ball.
  • Check to make sure you have packed all of the items in the packing list.
  • Please ship priority mail (about $8 or $9) so that delivery times are short.

Packing List:

  • DigiBall
  • Wireless Charger
  • Wireless Charger AC Adapter
  • DigiCast TV Module
  • HDMI to mini-HDMI cable
  • DigiCast AC Adapter
  • Aluminum phone stand

DigiBall Overview:

The DigiBall® is a patented electronic cue ball that automatically detects the exact tip location when hit. Because it uses gravity as a reference there is no need for manual alignment (unlike traditional training balls). Information is sent wirelessly via Bluetooth® to an Apple or Android device. All balls are perfectly balanced, perfectly round, weigh the same as a regulation ball and made from Aramith® resin.

Why?

The point of the DigiBall is to measure the accuracy of your stroke so that you can compare it to your intentions. Novice players may not give any thought to the importance of where on the face of the cue ball they hit it, as long as the cue ball makes the object ball go in the pocket. But for any high level of play, it is extremely important. Hitting the ball too much on one side of center will cause it to deflect in the opposite direction of your aiming line, resulting in a miss. Advanced players know this, and use deflection in combination with deliberate tip offset to both pocket the object ball and spin the cue ball off of the rails into desired positions. However, deviations in the accuracy of deliberate off-center tip hits still cause inconsistent results. By obtaining real time feedback on where you actually hit the ball and comparing it to where you intended to hit the ball, you can make adjustments quickly and effectively.

Quick Start Guide:

Unpack the materials in the box. Plug the round wireless charger into the AC adapter and into the wall. A blue light should illuminate. Place the DigiBall black-dot-face-down into the center of the concave section of the charger (this will wake the DigiBall from Ship Mode). Next, download the DigiBall app from the Android/Apple play store if you haven’t already. Open the app and enable Bluetooth if prompted. Navigate to the Devices page (icon with antenna) and select the DigiBall device with it appears. Navigate to the Shooting page (icon with cue ball) and start playing!

A fully charged ball will give you about 16 hours of continuous play. When you are done, place the ball back on the charger black-dot-face-down to recharge. Full charging takes about 4 hours. (Note: The wireless charger itself will not indicate the charge status. You can see what the status is by opening the Shooting page in the app and looking at the bottom right status dial.)

The app has an exclamation mark icon and a question mark icon in the top bar of the main page and Shooting page, both of which provide you information and instructions. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at
nataddrho@digicue.net.

Power Modes:

  • Normal Mode: The ball software is running and will send information to your mobile device. The ball will automatically go to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity (motionless).
  • Sleep Mode: The ball is in a low power mode, and occasionally monitors for a change in orientation to wake up.
  • Ship Mode: Hibernation. The battery is internally disconnected from the microcontroller inside of the ball and no power is consumed. This is for long-term storage or transportation/shipping. The only way to wake the ball is to place it on the charger. The ball can be placed into Ship Mode by holding the ball still, black-dot-face-up, and temporarily placing the charger on top of the ball, concave-section-down, like the ball is wearing a hat. “SHIP MODE” should appear in the lower right status dial on the Shooting page of the app.

DigiCast TV Kit:

Optional Evaluation; Also included is a DigiCast TV Kit. This is essentially a module that reads Bluetooth signals directly from the ball and displays them on a TV or monitor. This bypasses the need for using your personal mobile device, and effectively shows information on a large screen that can be easily seen from across the room. The limitation is that the information displayed is non-interactive, unlike the app, so you can’t save shot histories. To use the kit, just plug it onto a power supply and into your TV, and then after boot-up, bring an awake DigiBall close to the receiver to connect. The DigiCast also works with the DigiCue Blue, so feel free to try them both together.

Things to try with the DigiBall:

  • Play any game you want and work on your pre-shot routine mental process. Pick out your shot and the path you want the cue ball to take. Position your body in line with your personal shot line center. Then while still standing, think about exactly where you want to hit the cue ball with your tip. Not just the general area, but use precision, i.e. 5:30 near center, for example. (You can use your finger to place a prediction chalk mark on the app if you like, but isn’t necessary). Then bend down, prepare for your shot, and shoot. The DigiBall will tell you where you actually did hit the ball. Compare it to your intentions and the results of the shot.
  • Set up the same shot and shot it over and over again. Start a session so you can track your results, and then end the session when you are done. The History page will show your statistical spread of your accuracy over many shots.
  • Measure your break speed with accuracy. Hold down the bottom left status dial and slide your finger to select the distance between the CB and OB. Shoot your shot. Then hold down the bottom right status dial and select the time that your CB hit the OB. The speed will appear in the bottom left dial with high accuracy.
  • Investigate the dynamics of your shot. For your curiosity you can increase the resolution of time series data of the first 2.5 seconds of your shot, and look at the acceleration and spin over time. It is interesting to see how rails and jumps affect the spin and behavior of the ball.
  • Export your data. Share data to yourself and analyze the CSV file in Excel or other software in whatever way you want.

I think 2 fully positive feedback and 4000+ posts is the exact scenario I wanted to account for with the above. As long as other criteria are met if you want in I'm cool with that :)

boogieman

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that ping.
I'd love to test it out, I don't have the iTrader feedback but would love to be considered and agree to follow the rules.

I have a Ballstar cleaner - can this go in a cleaner like that or by hand only?

I'm probably late to the party to make the top 10, but I would be interested in testing and/or just buying an early model. I don't have a seller rating but I have 552 posts and a credit card :) I'll send a PM....

I don’t meet your requirements, however, I would gladly purchase one, even in beta. I look forward to the test feedback and general availability. Looks like a fantastic data tool!
