disgraceful is what it is!!!!

Wow... I stopped reading this thread since view 5000 or something and man, have I missed a lot.

I should copy/paste this entire thread and send it to Zuffa Entertainment or MTV to make a reality show! It'll be like that show, the Surreal Life---- ya know... that show with Ron Jeremy, Tammy Faye Bakker and Vanilla Ice?? Ron Jeremy was the only guy who didn't mind walking around the naked commune, naked. I wonder why.

Anyways....

I bet if Corvette, JAM, and Blackjack were sharing a house for a month and there were cameras hidden throughout the house.... I wonder who would end up crying in the corner...whimpering, "I just wanna go home....."

HAHAHAHA

*BUMP*

I'm all for it - just make sure to toss in TheOne, Timberly, Marissa, Fast Larry, Smorg, Debra, Eric, Kristi Carter, Kevin Varney, Willibetmore and Breakup - that would be good reality television!

btw...

I don't cry easily...

I have seen a few people in this thread question Grady's displeasure at not being invited to the 14.1 tournament. They wonder why he should be invited, as they feel that he is no threat to win the tournament and the future of pool is the hands of the younger players. While this may be true, it is certainly not the correct or only answer.... imo

Tonight I watched the first episode of this year's WSOP (World Series Of Poker) $10,000 Main event. 74 year old Doyle Brunson was playing in a field of over 6300 players, most of them much younger and the players that will carry poker on to new heights. Doyle Brunson won the WSOP Main event two years in a row ('76 & '77). It has been THIRTY YEARS since he has won the event and he was unlikely to win it this year, but he played and tried.

Doyle was knocked out early in the tournament by a younger player. As he rose to leave, a small smattering of applause began. Without encouragement, the applause grew to a crescendo of thunderous proportions, as the entire room applauded loudly (with many standing). The horde of people applauded Doyle, not for winning the tournament or making the Final table, but for simply participating. They applauded his past accomplishments, his Championships and what he brought to the game.

I think that Grady should be included (by invitation) to participate in 14.1 tournaments, as a sign of respect for what he has' brought to the game' during his lifetime. You might ask, if Grady, why not Varner, Rempe, Sigel, etc. ?
To this, I also ask, why not Varner, Rempe, Sigel, etc., they are all deserving of the applause and respect of the young players of today......
........
Grady, Billy, Rempe, Varner, Sigel, Hall, etc. are the ambassadors of our chosen sport and should be recognized as such. They should be applauded simply for walking into the venue and making an appearance. It doesn't cost ANYTHING to be respectful.
Doug
( this is MY opinon, do with it as you please )

SB,

Comparing Poker to Pool is comparing apples to oranges. And to correct your information on Doyle- 2005 Doyle won a WPT (World Poker Tour) title for about 1.5 million dollars and in 2006 Doyle won his 10th WSOP bracelet and about 600-700K. The main event at the 2007 wsop was won by a person who has been playing for only 2 years. The Main event at the wsop is just an event with a lot of people and more money not more skill.. It just goes to show that (texas holdem) poker isn't the most compliacted game to figure out. Catching cards and luck are the biggest factors in tournament poker. Tournament poker and tournament pool are just too different to compare.

I agree with everyone on Grady's competitiviness as a senior pool player and his accomplishments in the past. Everyone that is close to pool reconizes this and acknowledges it. However there were qualifiers for the 14.1 event he could have played in. Look at AZB's top players list it is filled with players who have been winning over the last decade or longer. Is Grady inducted into the Hall of Fame? I really would like to know. There is just too much grief over this one topic. It probably would not have made a difference either way if Grady was invited or not. Mens professional pool in the US is just too unstable. Like I stated before, Grady wasn't invited because he is so criticle of alot of things in the pool world and it is catching up with him...

How do you know this? Were you on the committee? Did a member of the committee tell you this?

JR,

Just read the begining thread. Read Grady's comments. This is not something new to this forum or to pool. Read Gradys past threads... Grady is not a happy person...

The beginning thread says nothing about the process the World 14.1 Championship committee used to select players or to not select Grady. If you're paraphrasing something written by someone else, please show me the post. I mean, are you making an assumption or are you stating a fact? I know two people that were involved in this process and frankly, I'd be very uncomfortable to ask them about their decision regarding ANY player, including Grady. Do you know anyone on the committee? Did anyone from the committee post anything? Did anyone who spoke with a member of the committee post anything? I mean, is this all silly gossip or is someone actually using fact here?

I think JustPlay is on to something. Even I will not invite someone who doesn't like me.

Who doesn't like Grady? Who are we talking about? How do you know this? I mean, c'mon. This is all gossip. We're like old ladies!!! WE'RE OLD LADIES!!!! Grady isn't even here anymore to discuss this! All we're doing is bsing and the people involved aren't even in the discussion.

Where did Cleary go? He's got so much pull with the major networks he could probably make this happen. We could call it Joe Billiardaire and we could all compete to see who could get on each others nerves the worst and the most obnoxious gets free entry into all future IPT events.

What about your attempts to flame everybody else? Why is it that when you disagree or tug on the nerves of others it always ends with you screaming for the moderators? After a while, perhaps they will see that it might be YOU that is the problem.

I post and adhere to the AzBilliards Discussion Forum rules. If I have a different opinion than somebody, I state it. I don't go PM-ing people on the offs trying to gather a posse so that I can play a friendly game of forum tag-team, as if I have to gather my troops and allies before the big forum war.

If I go to the moderator about a problem, then it is because I am experiencing difficulties with what I deem to be an antagonistic poster. The moderator can choose to act or not act. It is their discretion. I will contact the moderator whenever I feel a problem is developing, to avoid any unpleasantries on this forum.

There hits a point when people will grow tired of you throwing your weight around and they will just stand up to you. IMO, you're not a player. Keith is.

I never represented myself to be a player. So what is your point? I have no right to express opinions on this forum because I am not a pool player?

I respect him immensely for all that he is done. He is a legend worthy of all that comes with being a legend. He has earned that and I fully admit he is more of aplayer than I can ever hope and pray to be.

Save the fluff for somebody who gives a damn. You're addressing ME in this post, not Keith. Remember?

Blackjack said:
You are NOT Keith. I will respect you as a person - and I will give you the respect I give everybody else, but I will not respect some of the things that you say in this forum and the things that have gotten back to me through the grapevine.

You and your forum grapevine, what a joke. If I were to post up what others have said to me about you via phone, e-mail, and PMs, it would be mean-spirited of me to do so. I'll just leave it at that.

You not only argue with me, you argue with several others on a constant basis, so I don't feel as if I am out of line for pointing any of this out.

I do express my opinions when I feel strongly about a topic. As you know, because of your wealth of experience posting on forums, some posters enjoy flaming. I'm sure you've met a few of these types in your travels on the Internet, and I'll venture to guess you may know some of them extremely well.

On AzBilliards, I try to avoid flames, but I won't stand down from someone who insults me, targets me, tag-teams me, PMs others about me, and disseminates other niceties for the sole purpose to create havoc and disconsternation. You see, David, if I have something to say to somebody, I try to do it right here up front in their face, as opposed to behind their back.

You know I have taken strides to move forward from all of the butterness that has existed between us. I'm not moving forward any with that any more. I'll let you, Dave Wilson, Mike Howerton know that as well. Enough is enough.

In case you haven't noticed, I gave up a long time ago caring about what you think about my opinions because I think yours are just plain screwy.

I'm not siding with anyone, but I think it's more like "who Grady doesn't like." It matters because the event is invitational. I hate politicking, but the explanation could just be as simple as that.

Maybe Grady got bitter for being passed on many times which he should, and said something like this thread and offended the "powers that be." What I'm saying is that he probably needs to patch up his relationship with someone, unfortunately he might be the one who needs to make a move, many times, beggars can't be chooser some say.

I hear ya but we have to be careful with what we say. I mean, I understand there are people who would have liked to see Grady there and I'm one of them however, I also really enjoyed the fact that the event happened. Pool needs more of that. The last thing pool needs is more gossip. I mean, if we're quoting people, that's one thing. If we're assuming what their opinion is, that's something different.

You need to realize that your posts are hostile, mean spirited, nasty and vicious at times. Like I said, I will respect you as I respect anybody else in person and here in this forum, but respect is a two way street. Instead of moaning and crying and pointing fingers at the UPA and all the ancient history, move forward and try to see what you can do to be part of the solution.

As far as what others say about me behind my back, my ears haven't heard any of it so I can only guess their nuts are like little microscopic bb's. Offense intended to all that applies to. Good night.

I'm sure Grady's credentials in Pool would be much betterly (is that a word :o ) reckognized, if he wouldn't be so much emotionally and egoistically involved with his statements and behaviour sometimes.
Grady seems to be very very nice and funny guy when sun is shining for him, but if he invents a cloud (in his mind), he can be very very difficult and (may I say as half the age he is) childish. The diplomacy and matureness can escape far from him when the blood rushes, and it seems to rush quite often. Maybe he should learn to count to ten so he could age with dignity.

Sometimes it seems that he's on the same track with Earl, IMHO.

I don't know is it too late to say, but I'm not writing this to 'bash' or anyhow insult him. I just wished he would witness himself better, so he would get all the respect he could, and he would, deserve.

Peace

Ps. As a player, Grady should be invited to the 14.1. 'World Championships' way b4 many others there now are with invitations.

I will speak about any subject matter I wish, and if you interpret it as "moaning and crying," then that is your opinion. I'm actually kind of sick of hearing some of your dissertations ad nauseum about several topics.

Why don't you move forward and see what you can do to be a part of the solution to end the nonsense on this thread. You tell me I am throwing my weight around on this forum and that I am not Keith. Who are you, Big Guy? In the end, we are both members of the forum who have an interest in pool. Do you honestly want to believe that I should bow down to you because I am not a pool player? I am what I am, and if you don't like it, then use the Ignore button.

I have been personally offended by many of your words on this forum. I just tell you to your face right here in black and white, but I abide by the forum rules in doing so. This tag-team crap is for monkeys.

"Monkey" is a term I have used on forums, but believe me, if I could express my opinion to you in person, I could think of a more descript noun and follow it up with a descriptive adjective that would express my thoughts more profoundly.
