Do I belong here?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I guess that's one of the reasons I keep coming back to this forum. Everyone's (well, almost everyone) so nice and accommodating. You've all brought tears to my eyes.

Well, for starters, take out that description underneath your forum name. That is awful! :(

How about something like "Rack 'em, Sausage!"?! :D

Or, "It's like a nightmare!"

Hehe, thanks for the suggestion, JAM. I'm sure Grady Seasons (?) would love that! :)

Hollywood should really give Keith his own movie, maybe a TCOM spin-off (Proposed TITLE:Changing Seasons) starring Keith's character and taking off right after he was beaten by that young upstart Tom Cruise played (what's his name again -- Vincent?) and really reevaluating his life as a pool player. He would seek out his old mentor whom he left behind years ago after he felt he (the old guy) couldn't teach him (Keith's character) anything new anymore. He'll find out that the guy is in an old folks' home and in danger of getting evicted because he doesn't have any family left and the only person he's really considered family was Keith's character so Keith goes off to raise money for the old guy the only way he knows how, and he finds he's more successful at it because this time he's not just playing for himself anymore. So after he wins the world championship (IPT no less! hehe ;) ) he has enough money to bail the guy out and take him under his wing, so to speak,
and when he asks his mentor for more lessons the old guy says "I think
you've learned enough" and then he dies.

It's a first draft.

Well if you had sat 1 row closer I would say yes, you belong here...but since you sat 1 row further back than was required then I am forced to say No...

You must go through and erase everyone of your 800+ posts by close of business today...

Actually you may be the only poster able to say..."I have never missed a ball in 15 years".......Then describe your aiming system. You will have a cult following within a week......Guaranteed;)

HAHA! Thanks for the suggestion.

Actually, I'm really good in Wii pool and I challenge anyone here to break my record! ;)

You got talent, Kid! WOW! That's a great short story! :D

And I love the title, too! Gives me food for thought! :)

"Changing Seasons." It's got kind of a ring to it, too! :p

Thanks. Did I get his character's name right? Was it an homage to Grady Matthews, you think?

For a deeper question, do any of us belong here?

That is a good question. I always wondered that myself because Grady is a unique name, and there's one pool player I know of with the name of Grady! :)

BTW, I notice you changed your tag line underneath your forum name. That's great.

Now we need to get you a new avatar. How about this one?! :D

I haven't shot pool or even entered a pool hall in over 15 years (being a spectator at the WPC2007 doesn't count -- i was too far away from the table). Is there a place for me here in this great forum?

Balsis quit for 18 years. And he did all right when he came back. :)

Yes, there is place for you here at AZB and it's right over here on the Group W bench next to me and some of the others....

It's nice to know the vets of a forum are nice to newcomers. I look foward to learning a lot here! and sharing when/if I can.

How it happened to me

I found this forum a few years ago after reading an article about Keith McCready and then, following that, I did a Goggle search on Keith. That led me to AZ, where I lurked for a while and finally joined. I'd devoted the previous 30 years of my life to work, and only picked up a cue while in a bar.

Because of the forum, I've been to three Derby City Classics. And now I own a game rooom equipped with a new pool table, bar, table shuffle board, pinball and TV for sports watching.

Guess I owe it all to AZ. Welcome aboard.

If you are a fan of pool, you belong here.

Don't worry about your pool skill level, dont worry about the price of your cue, dont worry if you've never won the Derby City Classic. You are welcome. The pool community always learns and grows with input and advice from novices and experts alike. Usually the novices provide the most innovative ideas on making pool games or billiard parlors a better place. Hope you stick around and contribute despite any opposition from lurking trolls that may pop up now and then.

Welcome to AZBilliards.

Thanks, Jay. It means a lot, coming from you. I think I'll give it a go again. :) Maybe I can get up to my speed in Wii pool. ;)
