I hope I am not beating a dead horse here. Are there many 8 ball tournaments for Pro's? Everything I see is 9 or 10 ball.

The BCA Nationals in Las Vegas has an 8-ball Grand Master event which, by definition, is for professionals. It's also played on 7-foot tables and can be very interesting to watch.

I heard Shane can play some BB 8-ball, but i've never seen it. I don't think he can...

Try searching the forum on IPT, it was a failed tournament where Pros to play 8-ball. I don't think it failed because of the game format, but the organizer wasn't able to honor his financial obligations to the winning players.

Yes but there are fewer 8 ball tourneys than there are 9 and 10 ball... Ralph Souquet won the world 8 ball championship recently, maybe last year. 8 ball is televised less, as it's not as "action packed" as 9... but it's still around. I love 8 ball!

It's Cliff Joyner that I wonder about playing 8-ball....I've never seen him
hit a ball on a Valley 7 ft.
I walked into QMasters in Virginia Beach a few years ago and Cliff and
Shane were playing a long set...Shane was shooting and ran the set out
(6 or 7 racks)
I'm pretty sure Cliff plays 8-ball at a high level.....
..I've just never seen him play.

Um, yeah. Shane is kinda great at barbox. Like, might be the best at it.

That is a bold statement. I'm not saying it is not true but very bold. On a bar box and for many, it is just a break contest.
The big boys grew up playing the game too and Haven't forgotten how, they just grew bored with it.

"A" for diplomacy.

It's generally accepted as fact that Shane is the best in the world 8-ball barbox right now.

I believe there's an offer out there to play ANYONE barbox 8-ball. Perhaps Justin, Chad or Mark can verify this.

I personally saw Shane beat Orcullo 8-ball on a barbox in Vegas a few years back for the cash.

im 99.9% the offer is out there along with 10 ball on a 9 footer also.

Shane has had some great finishes in barbox events and he's proven to be a great talent. Admittedly, there are quite a few guys out there that could post similar results and I wouldn't deny that. Some of these guys are only known in the 8ball circles (possibly unknown to many on this forum) and, like you said, some of these guys are only known for playing 9ball. With that said, I would be surprised if anyone on the planet right now would give Shane weight and I would venture to say only a half dozen would be willing to play him even-up for anything significant. Please keep in mind, this is only my opinion. I'm not offering a wager.

It's not a bold statement. Shane has the best break in the world.

i am not denying that at all. It's just that at the pro level i think that many could hang. JMO!!

Shane and Appleton right now would be a good one (Darren's confidence being at an all time high and all). After seeing in person Shane demolish Scott Frost on a barbox TAR match; I would NEVER bet against Shane on the small table though (it was 9ball, but still...an absolute CLINIC!).
