Do Pro's play 8 ball?

There is a $10,000 Added 8 Ball tournament in New Town, S.D. in April at the Four Bears Casino. SVB plays in it but did not win last year.

Brandon Shuff won the C.S.I 8 Ball Nationals on 9fts in Vegas a few years ago.

The World 8 Ball tournament is coming up soon in Dubai I think.

Most top players prefer full rack games, imo.

Brandon did win the CSI National Championship Series for 8-ball. 63 winners of various qualifiers and Brandon spanked 'em all! The winner was to get money AND entry to the WPA World 8-ball to be held in Dubai (or nearby). But the tournament was cancelled.

Ian Anderson, president of the WPA has agreed that Brandon should get his promised spot and he will playing this February. Way to go Brandon!!

Just want everybody got know we followed through on this and we wish mr. Shuff the best.

Any chance of CSI in the near future securing any of the rights to the WPA world events and bringing them back to the USA?

I think the only playing living right now that can come close to Shane is Jesse Bowman. Even than I would bet the farm on Shane

Hey Joe,

The WPA has been pretty successful in getting the prize money up to $200,000 or more - that is ADDED money. The US could make a run for a WPA event but we would need some corporate sponsorship.

I am sure the WPA would want a multiple year contract.

Until corporate America sees something to sponsor, I don't think anything is going to happen for a world event.

What we (in the US) need to do is to keep our players strong and develope a method of getting our top players to the various world events. That is something CSI is working on through the USAPL system. They need to compete on the world stage to get that seasoning.

It is hard to expect great success when there are only 2 players from the US at a world event that might have 40 Chinese or similar number of Philipino players. The depth over there is amazing and after awhile, it becomes a numbers game.

Hope this helps explain.

My sarcasm may not have been picked up. Shane will play any game against any one for the most part. see Earl v. Shane I, II, or III.

When it comes to BB 8 ball, bring your pony and alot of dough. Shane will play for the world!

Thanks for the response. Would be great if you could get some big corporate sponsors, one of these days.

A decent video for all of those people who say "8-ball is too easy for the pros, they will just run out all the time" to watch. Mika and Fransisco, both close to their primes, and showing how hard 8-ball can get with a couple tied up balls and a larger table.

Also, look at the shots the game produces, Mika forced into a 2 rail z-shot kick in game two, Francisco has to shoot in a short side long shot into the corner with ball in hand, Francisco tries a triple combo early in game 3 due to a tied up ball. And all of that takes place in the first 3 games.

8-ball can create way more interesting situations and shots then one normally sees in rotation pool.

The IPT failed for alot of reasons, the game they chose to play was not one of them.

Any prayer of the World 8-ball Championships being streamed? I would pay to watch that one for sure and the game could certainly use the exposure.
