Do you get your cue worked on at the Super Billiards Expo?

If you do, what are the pros and cons of having work done there? I'm specifically asking about the SBE because of the shear volume of people that come through there along with the amount of cue repairmen there.

Now, I am hoping this doesn't turn into a who's better and who sucks type thread. Please stick to the original question if you don't mind.

Do you get your cue worked on at the Super Billiards Expo?

Thanks.

Gene, for my perspective it is the last place to have work down on your cue, unless you have know where else to turn. My statement has nothing to do with quality of the Craftsmanship, but it certainly has everything to do with the price. Cue repairs at any Major tournament or event are always out of line with prices anywhere else. I understand why this is the case (Setup Fee's), however, this is exactly why it would not be worth my time to travel and setup shop.

In addition my customers are starting to also realize this, in most cases if they need work done they come to me before they leave. I mean it really makes no sense to pay double for something if you do not have to.

Take care

Absolutely

I second Blackburn and Lomax. As for pricing I don't see a big difference in paying a little more there or paying shipping to and from plus the time without your equipment.

You post make Dollars, and Cents to me:thumbup:Also why would you want to play a big Event with a NEW not Broken in TIP. IMHO it takes a minimum of 2 hours of play to break in a New Tip untill it settles down.;)

Thank you all for your input. As mentioned before, I'm not looking for who is the best or even the worst for that matter. I am fully aware of the talents of the individuals that do work there.

I would like to know why you would, or would not get work done there.

Thanks again guys.

I try real hard to only have Joe Blackburn and Steve Lomax work on my cues. The only time I get to see them is at major events so I actually have waited to have work done because I wanted them to do it.

After some bad experiences with cue repair it is worth whatever they charge to know it will be right and their prices are very reasonable in my opinion.

Ricky Phillippi, dependable, Very Knowledgable

I think people on the East coast would agree, Its nice of Ricky Phillippi to attend. In 2007 , I think his repair prices were Fair because it was Ricky phillippi doing all the work( A very noteworthy cuemaker) Cuemaker Richard Black will be inducted this yr. as well!!!! I go for the largest selection of cuemakers and suppliers. And the Pro mens tournemet- Mark

Amen!

It's worth the price to me to know I can trust the person doing the work. Joe and Steve have done almost all of my tips for the last five years or so. Always great work.
