OK folks i have taken some heat because i play with a Lucasi cue and even have it in my signature. Now i could easily change that to a high dollar custom cue.Which leads me to wonder how many posters really have the cues that they put in their signature? Now I'm not implying that everyone is a fibber but............................................................

I doubt many people if any are lying. What purpose would it serve? Nobody really cares what cue you play with and it's not like mid-high end cues aren't affordable for people with steady incomes.

Playing cue: Diamond encrusted Balabushka/Szamboti hybrid with tyrannosaurus rex skin wrap and white rhino penis leather tip.

the cue in my avatar really is mine. it's not nearly as expensive as alot of the cues i see for sale on here. the only reason i have a custom is because i really wanted one. i saved up for almost a year so i would buy it and have enough cash left so i wouldn't even notice the cost of the cue missing. i don't shoot any better or worse beacuse of it and i don't get any more or less respect for my game because of it. the way i see it, shoot first with what you like and second with what won't break your bank.

Don't let the Lucasi haters get ya down. I've played with and owned several higher end 'masterpiece' type cues, as well as several off the shelf production brands, and although I favor finding that special custom cue, in my top ten list of best cues I've ever played with, a Lucasi and a very special Falcon somehow made the list.
It's wood, so you can find a junker in a high end masterpiece just as you can find that sweet keeper in a production cue.

I'm not going to say it was a junker but i used to hang out in a room in Jersey where there were a lot of Szamboti owners and there was this one Gus cue that just did not feel right. It played fine but it did not have the same hit as the others. It was a standard Gus cue not made with an odd ball wood that may have affected the hit.Something just was not right.

If you can play then you can play pretty much with anything.now having said that I prefer a custom.1st because i can afford it 2nd i like cues.3rd I have had them made to my specs so it does add a little bit to my game.4th its fun to collect and trade and you should always be able to get the money you put into it back if you make the right choices.I own a, Zylr,Prewitt,Zinzola,Viattore,Bcm,and have a Searing on order.
Nothing wrong with a Lucasi if that's what you can afford and are used to it. One day if you decide to move up that's good too.

I never posted my cues in my sig. If I did I certainly wouldn't lie about it.

i wouldnt be embarrased to post a lucassi in your sig. my first playing cue was a lucassi and it hit great. i actually just suggested to another guy in a different thread that a lucasi is a great playing cue between $200-$400.

but on a different note, i really have the olivier that i have posted in my sig

A while back here in NY a guy had his 'Balabushka' or 'Szamboti' i forget stolen. There was a lot of talk about it and after a 2 months or so it was returned and the word was when the thief went to sell it, it was found to be a 'Palmer' i believe.

When I started playing pool again, I had an old Huebler that I thought was a great cue. I went to the pool room and was a little surprised to find myself surrounded by expensive Tad's, gina's, Mottey's, Southwest's etc.

I have always loved cues, so I was taken by how many players had cues that were expensive customs. I decided to upgrade and I went through a half dozen cues including customs, before I bought a JossWest which was and is a keeper.

For the most part, the mystique of cues ownership is gone for me except for appreciation of famous historic makers, of fine craftsmanship and beauty.

I can tell you that there are a lot of pool players with really nice cues they are proud to own, but they are prized for much more than dollar value. I don't think I've ever even noticed what cues people list.

That's my cue in my avatar. Difference is I didn't buy it, it was handed down to me from my father. Before that I couldn't care less about pool

I have been playing pool for 47 years, and it has always been with a production cue, including a Lucasi for a few years. As long as a cue feels good in your hands, is straight, and has a good tip on it, it's just fine.
My game isn't all that bad, and I know that changing to a custom cue isn't going to make it any better.

Steve

Most people start off with a production cue, I did at one point. My 1st cue was a J&J, it hit great. Then I noticed that my friends had fancy cues and I got the bug to get a fancier cue than my plain jane production cue. I ended up choosing a Lucasi because it was within my price range at $350 and came with two shafts. I played and enjoyed that cue for a good 3 years before deciding to get my first custom. I only changed because my taste in hit changed. I found a custom that fit the feel that I liked more so I upgraded to a TAD. I still have a special place in my heart for that J&J cue and the fancy Lucasi. I still have both cues and won't sell them for anything because those were the cues that I had a lot of fond memories with.

forget all the crap brother, I got a few really expensive cues (over 2k) and i don't even shoot with them. I shoot with my trusty old plain arse weinstock conversion. It aint fancy, hell its plain....but it gives the expensive cues I have the orange crush.

Shoot with what you like, forget the rest.

Happy shooting,
Grey Ghost

FUNNY!!!:rotflmao1::rotflmao1:

Well...

I don't actually play with a 150,000 dollar cue, but the indentured servant stuff is totally legit....

I actually play with a corny "Outlaw" cue that my wife got me cuz she thought it was cool. I thought it was cool too, but now I want a more traditional looking cue. All I can say is that most people around here think i am pretty decent at pool, and don't laugh at my cue. I am betting that if I went to the Florida people would think I looked retarded. In my league there are a few Lebow's rolling around and they are all beauts. Someday.

I own every cue I have ever used in an avitar. I try really hard to hold onto the high end box cues. The makers surely put heart and soul into building them and every time a cuemaker accepts a design request from me, I feel honored. No posing here.
What about all the avitars with smokin hot women? How many girlfriends are out there?
