Do you realy have that cue?

There are a ton of top players and top CMs here but no one i know would think anything about what cue you are using.I couldn't care less if you were using a broom handle.most of the time i play with my Viattorre which i had made for me before they folded shop.Its a Filipino cue.
I started off with a 2 piece dufferin... so whats up now! But really I like my cue I have now so what else matters right? besides I think Lucasi makes some pretty good cues.. I find for the most part AZ people don't really care we are all just pool players talking about the game we grow to love.. not to tear down other people's games or gear. You get the odd exception but o well screw them.

My New Cue
Is a Varney, not all that expensive, nice looking, and probably the best playing cue I've owned. I counted up the other day I've owned 14 customs including 6 SW's, and a Szam and the Varney plays better than any of them for a fraction of the price. I was suprised to say the least. You can see the cue in the cue review section. I've already ordered and paid for another fullsplice cue from Kevin with a different wood combination and a different pin. I will write another review for that cue when I get it and get to spend some time with it. I always try to put myself in a position where I'm under pressure like in a tournament with a new cue, because it seems like then you can really see how they are going to play. Anyway, that's what works for me. You can get a really nice custom in the same price range as a lot of production cues that are out there, so why not get something unique just for you. Just my 2 cents.

No shame in posting ANY cue in your siggy. If it's the cue you play with, and you like it, that's all that matters.

I just bought an old mcdermott for a playing cue because, although I LOVE my SW, I don't always feel comfy taking it to certain halls/bars. I don't like to switch cues so I figured I'd get a cue I can play with everyday, anywhere and not be worried if someone kicks it or steals it.

As for what cue you play with, who cares? Some people make such a big deal about having a fancy custom cue. The bottom line is, if you can play, you can play. If you can't play, NO cue is going to make you a good player. Sure it might help a bit but really good players can beat you with a $20 cue they got at Wal-Mart
. Personally I got a Players cue about 6 years ago before I knew what I was doing, and it served me well. The Players cue was only 18oz. I learned that I liked a heavier cue (and couldn't find weight bolts for the Players), and wanted to try a different tip, so I just got a Fury DL series about a month ago, and I love it. I could have spent more for an NR, or RP series with real inlays etc..., but why? The DL is the same cue with less decorations, so it is cheaper.
Play with what you like, and can afford, spending more money will not improve your game that much.

I don't have a cue in my aviator but if i did it would be mine. A custom cue is like a custom guitar, auto etc. It doesnt make you a great player or driver. I have purchased the cues I have had because i love the game and appricate the masters of the craft. They don't improve my game just my personal pleasure. If you play with a custom cue believe me you will be beat at some point with some one that picked up the bar cue to do it to you. If you can shoot I respect your game not your cue.
