Shane will play like the best player in the world. Bergman and Hall are going to surprise people and will win more points than they lose. It's going to come down to how well Schmidt and Duell do.

USA wins 11-9.

Do they have a chance? Yes. How much of one? Who knows… I voted yes because all the pressure is on Team Europe in my opinion.

No one thought St.Louis could beat Denver last week but they did. That's why they play the games

And in 1980 no one thought team USA could beat Russia with bunch of young thrown together players but we did im with team USA think we got its gonna beat great too watch no matter what happens

Bergman and Hall will be a handful for any euro player. Shane is the best in the tourney on paper so why wouldn't USA have a legitimate shot. I feel Europe didn't pick their top players leaving out thorsten And Mika.

So Lenny 1.5 to 1 I'd rake those odds all day

I'm digging the Greek this year at Mosconi Cup. Shane has his number, though. Should be a great battle! :)

I hope we all enjoy this year's 2014 Mosconi Cup to the fullest because it will be most likely our last.

It is great that all eight members of Team USA have the freedom to do what's best for them and not the United States or the team as a whole.

Thanks for the memories, Matchroom Sport. It was a good ride while it lasted. :)

5/1?

Blackpool can go either way. Wouldn't want to be a european struggling for confidence in front of that crowd. I think how Gray performs is crucial here - class player in gb9/euro tour, but this is different. Let's see if he can live up to his nickname.

The other deciding factor will be the break.

I agree. Gray is capable of playing as well as anybody (especially in a short race format) but it will be interesting to see how he does here.

Honestly, I don't think the European team is as strong as it could have been, but I still think they're stronger than the US. With the Blackpool crowd, whoever starts the strongest is favourite, IMO.

I am curious as to what people think on this. They have been underdogs the past few years and losing. In the past 8 years they have won only one time and got one tie also, so 6 of the last 8 were won by Europe. Will Mark Wilson and his plan make a difference? I honestly believe USA are certainly 1.5/1 dogs in this and that is being kind. I am rooting for Team USA because of pride but my wallet is betting on Europe. Our strongest team I thought possible was assembled last year and we got heisted, I bet on USA which I felt was the dream team.

What Plan is that? Visit the Navy Seals?
Underdogs have nothing to lose, Europe has all the pressure.

It's a race to 5, USA could blank Europe.
I have beaten my share of World Champs in races to 5. I am blind in one eye and can't see out the other.
Either way, Wilson comes out looking like a champ. His best plan, a win win situation for himself.

I only listen to one song, Ray Charles, America The Beautiful.
I am still wearing my 4th of July underwear, I will take them off after the Mosconi cup.

Lenny, How about I'll take USA 50:75 and since I'm not GAL, I'll buy a copy of power one pocket2 instead of posting but you don't have to ship it until after the cup. PM me if you want the stakes higher.

So i'm guessing it's "just in this instance" context that we're talking about here (we meaning you). But, just for convo sake, I find it kind of unfair that this team is being look at in that manner by so many. That Europe crowd is no joke and those new guys can only speculate, i'm sure Shuff gave them some insight. I feel like there is too much pressure being put on the guys. It's their first time out the gate, we're suppose to be looking at "down the road" and not changing the line up every time it doesn't work out.

I just feel like it should be more "do you guys think this is the team to put us back on top of the mosconi map, in a few year, it's going to be a rough start but let's see how they do this year"

it's kind of what we do with Shane. "WHAT! HOW COULD HE LOSE?

PM sent for higher stakes.

This years team europe seems like an inferior team from the past few mosconi cups or is just me?

Why is Mika not in the euro team this year? It's odd that US is favored here in the poll, but I don't see anyone making an even bet for the US to win. I would love to see the US win. Do I really think they will? No. I think they have more chance of losing 11-5 than winning. There is a guy in the post above mine that I see wanted to bet for the US. With a 50-75 money spot. Yep, confidence LOL

I'm no gambler, and am not sure what the odds are, but suspect there's huge value in a usa win.

I don't like this european team.

I have to say the teams are matched up tight, this might be the weakest Europe team we have seen in many years.

The USA got to at least 7 matches won in 18 of the first 20 Mosconi Cups and in 18 of the 19 in which they got to choose their own team (the 2013 team was chosen by Matchroom). For this reason, I'd call anything worse than 11-7 to be a major embarrassment, and it would mean that this was one of our worst Mosconi teams ever. That said, I believe we'll get to 8 or more, and I sense that Team USA has a much better chance to win this than most people seem to think.

We can do this!

i would of taken sossei or domingeuz over schmidt, hes had a couple of good years here and there, and I get the need for a veteran, but I don't think hes good enough to be in the team, I would have gone with morris for a veteran. sossei steps up in big moments, and I know he doesn't have an open win like john, but if he would have made it, it would have been a huge boost for his psyche and he would have come thorugh. dominguez as well. no dis-respect to schimdt, he's a pros pro and a gentleman of the game, I just don't think hes good enough for a huge tourney like this anymore. Im also surprised shaw isnt in the europe team, he just won turning stone and is becoming alot more consistent, but I guess when you have several countries to choose from you have the pick of the litter. Can we do europe vs the americas? can we get some canadians and south americans to choose from?? are there any canadians and Sou.Am to choose from??
