Ok, I have a couple of sets of joint protectors I never thought I'd sell...but after hearing the news about our friend Don Sherman's heart attack and pending bypass surgery, I thought I would sell these and give 100% of the proceeds to help the Sherman family with medical bills.
If you don't know, Don just loves joint protectors..he hoards them by the bag full! I once had to flip him for some James White joint protectors that originally came with a James White cue I just bought from Don! Well, I lost the flip...so I paid him an extra $20 for them.
So, in his honor, I'm gonna auction off these two sets of joint protectors.
Set #1---Barry Szamboti---these came off the 1st Barry I bought about eight years ago. Now, from what I understand, the butt protectors are made by Barry himself. I wanted to know the whole story on these so I emailed him..here is his reply:
Hi Jeremy,
I think it is one that I made years ago. Now I always do 3 grooves, but back then I sometimes put 4 grooves and I do remember doing
a couple of 5 groove caps.
I changed to 3 groove only, because a general in the military can only get 3 stars based on military combat service. A 4th star is only attained by presidential appointment.
There have only been (5) Five star generals in U.S. history. They were all in WWII. I won't be doing any other 5 groove caps.
Sorry for being long winded about this. I just find history interesting. Plus, maybe since it's one of only a few at most, it might be more desireable.

Set #2---Tim Scruggs---since Scruggs retired, I thought I'd keep them since these will for sure be very collectible.
Both sets are 5/16x14
