Don Wirtamen

Don Wirtiman

Don spent a lot of years up in Alaska. I have known him since mid 60's. Saw him playing some exhibition matches around UW (seattle). Then he came to Alaska and then moved there. Was a pilot of smaller aircraft.

He also was pretty visisble around SF in the early 60's.

He has a very unique aiming method.

Mark, seems to me that I have a picture floating around of a tournament in AK with you and Don and everyone dressed up in dresses! I showed it to Don and he laughed pretty hard about it. :grin-devilish:

Linda, actually me and Don were just talking about that photo this evening. He comes down to play in my Wednesday Night almost every week, along with a number of the top local players. He told me the entire story behind that photo, you should post it to the site, it would be a laugh. I showed Don this thread tonight, he didn't have much to say, but if that photo was posted he may get a laugh out of it. He said he has not seen it for a long long time, I bet it would make his day. Anyway, I will remind him you have a copy, I will see him in the morning!!!!!

Take Care

If Linda doesnt have it, I will get a picture of the autographed copy tomorrow for you. Don, Mark, Tullus.... lots of REALLLLLLY bad drag queens..... :D

Don plays strong. I have seen him play on a bunch of occasions. His aiming method is unique but the ball goes where it is supposed to and pretty soon the table is cleared. He usually finishes high in the money in any tourney he plays in.

OK, you asked for it! Aren't they cute?!!! :p

My finace's step dad just got back from the Florida red dress run...I can't believe he did that. Especially after just retiring from the military....Doesn't seem very manly or is it???

At Rhiannon's BD party/9ball tournament a couple weeks ago (held at Jr.'s and LT's new poolroom in Tacoma) Don asked me to do him a favor. If you see Don again, tell him I have not talked to Allison to ask her if that lady on the commercial is her. He swears that it is her double. :p

The pic is hilarious!!!! LOL
I like Dons choice in attire. Very slimming. LOL

back online

Well my hard drive melted but I am back online with an older slower computer.

I talked to Don the other day.I was kind of apprehensive approaching him.
You know that old pool gamblers mentality that you don't talk about players or speak their names in public or whatever....When I told him about the thread he just sort of shrugged.

TY everyone for your stories,pics,insight.
