dp cues

I've heard good and bad things if ur looking for lower end cue I'd go with players hxt cue Rain-Man on this site gives great deals on them GL

You can do a seach here and learn a lot . He screwed a few of his Dealers . No resale value . Jim

What Jimmy said. We have 3 older ones that play very decent and are keepers.

Altho, not worth much except to the owners. Maybe can sell one locally for close to what you paid for it. Don't know much about the newer ones that people seem to be a bit disappointed with when they get them.

2 of mine are in a case. My wife uses one to play with.

Never a problem with the ones that we own. If you should get a good one, they are an excellent cue for the money. If a starter cue is what you are looking for, snap one up on EBay and use it.

If you miss one that you like on an auction, don't fret cause Dale will have another 1 of 1 batch up for auction
quickly. You will be able to find another 1 of 1 that looks almost like the one that you missed out on, in other words.

And his web site does state that they are worth $1800.00. So at least you can tell your Bros that you own an $1800.00 cue. That alone should be worth the 150 dollar auction price.

Best deal on Ebay. :D

I really don't know why people are calling it a starter cue.:scratchhead:

I know people that have been using a Dale Perry cue for years.

Guess all cues could be called starter cues.

Of course I've seen people use a $2,500 custom cue and can't shoot their

way out of a brown paper bag.

Never had one. What's supposed to happen to a cue that's no good? Do they crumple up like ice cream cones if you squeeze them? Do they curl up in a circle? Geez...

Not many moving parts to a cue stick. Do you think its artificial wood? I dunno...

Not much resale value? How much resale value do you need for a hundred dollar cue?

They look fine, if I needed a cue I'd buy one, but my Chinese imitation southwest cue for 80 bucks with 2 shafts is still just fine after two years. It ain't got no resale value either.

DP cues

Look, I have owned and played with a dozen higher end custom cues ($1,000+) for the past 30 years. I have won tournaments etc. I bought a Dale Perry a year ago on ebay because I liked the look at $100. It is now my #2 choice behind my Richard Black as a playing cue. Placed 6 th in the Predator tour a short while ago using this cue. The white inlays are not Ivory, the points are not hand spliced; but other than that the balance and playability as well as the hit are good enough for any beginner or intermediate player; and in the hands of a more skilled player - the cue offers no excuses for poor play - so do not worry about resale - in my opinion, the best $100 on a cue I could ever spend- that is 30 years worth of playing and cue collecting experience speaking. Also, I see no warpage or other workmanship issues with the cue at this point. I have recently sold my $1,000 Capone cue on ebay because I decided that the Dale Perry is a reasonable playing substitute and I now have $900 in pool money for gambling/tournaments! Just my personal opinion and experience.

Nuthin bad to say about McDermott cues, thats for sure. My point was, no need to spend a zillion dollars looking for a magic bullet, and for the price of one of those dp cues, how bad can it be.

The threaded wood shaft without an insert is weaker, but thats how any of them are including sw.

If shaft warping is a concern, don't worry, I'm sure someone will come out with a climate controlled cue case for 10 grand. And for that kind of money, its gotta be good.

does anyone have opinion of dale perry cues? good/bad

Is Iffy a selection?

They are cheap enough that you can pick one up to try, and fancy looking enough to resell to someone for the same amount, or maybe at a tiny loss if you don't like it.

You will be hard pressed to find a better cue for the money. I even bought a couple of them for my collection when I saw how low he had reduced his prices to on ebay. Dales cues used to be priced on up there like eveyone else's cues were priced when he was doing all the work himself. But he decided to hire some help and produce more cues and cut out all dealer mark ups on prices and sell straight to the public for what ever they are willing to pay on ebay.

That took a lot of guts and gives a very accurate view of what the market will actually pay. I once asked Dale if he regretted going the ebay route and he said no.

I've bought a few of them off eBay for bar beaters and have had good experiences for the most part. One I sold to a new league player who needed a cue and he loves it. Another I sold to a random at the pool hall who was complimenting it. Actually made a few bucks on each selling them for $150.

The last one I got has great bacote wood but I let a guy use it at league. He missed a 9 ball and proceeded to throw it across the room. It put two small cracks in the butt at the joint opposite from each other from stress on the joint but it's not very noticeable and hasn't affected the hit from what I can tell. However, the stainless joint cap now can just slide right off if you pull on it.

One thing about DP cues is that the shafts are not very good IMO. They aren't sealed and mine has warped considerably. I guess maybe it wouldn't if I sealed it myself? Don't know. It would be a good candidate for trying out one of THESE on though.

This guy still has his health ???

That's Rediculas . .

I would say so as well. I often lend out a spare Predator that I keep in my case. If someone abused that in any way, well, they would be replacing the cue for a start.

The other part would greatly depend on what mood I was was in at the time.
