Dr. Dave's first YouTube Short

Well done. At nearly a minute, I'd say you're still a bit too long with it - but your stats should show you where folks are dropping off.

You could probably make a ton of them by re-editing your existing catalog, which is impressive itself.

YT was sorta forced into offering Shorts by the insane growth of Instagram and TikTok which force short-form videos by default.

Publish your own captions it displays better for different sized screens. Can you translate to Hebrew or Yiddish?

Auto gen captions only work for close viewing, it would not work on a projector.

Great work, A+ for adopting new technology late.

Thank you for another great video ! A new idea for another video could be pool at - 45 below zero we're still scheduled to play tomorrow and they claim we're going to be down around - 60 below zero then .
One learns to allow plenty of time for your pool cue to reach room temperature before starting to play a match .

I like the idea. It will help many newer players get started off on the right foot.
Simple but so important to show proper techniques to players, some of these may be missed when taking lessons.

Still too long.
I think shorts are for more mindless clicky entertainment, so this isn't an ideal topic. soooooo dry.

I think you would crush it with shot compilation shorts. Like for example, the compilation at the end of your top 10 safeties vid. Better yet, split em for 8b and 9b safes only, one short each. But really that's still just safeties so meh.

Banks, Kicks, Jumps, Masses.... these dominate the pool shorts....unless your into blatantly cheating during a runout (those guys r funny).

We love your full length vids for their in depth knowledge dumps. For shorts, you're looking for quick neat little shots or impressive runouts. A little music with well timed bass drops don't hurt either ;)

Good luck sir.

Perhaps do certain topics in bitesizes.
So when you do a short about bank shots, don't cram in every aspect of bank shots in a minute.

Instead take one aspect and do it in a +/- 30 second short. Maybe number them: Bankshot #1 "when played at medium pace without spin the incoming angle = outgoing angle. See: (shoot shot). Check all bankshot shorts to understand every aspect of banking"

Bankshot #2: "using speed to change outgoing angle.. Bla bla"

Etc

Well done.

Thanks.

It is just so hard for me to be "short." I'm all about "long."

I guess great minds think alike, because that's the plan.

YT was smart to follow suit.

I know. I'll try to do some short shorts also.

Good idea. I plan to do this ... only one small idea/technique in each short.

Background "space" music is intrusive and distracting -- difficult to separate your narrative. Otherwise, love your stuff so keep it up. Thank you for everything.

I don't like background music either, but it is apparently what is expected by viewers of shorts. I'll reduce the volume of the background music in future shorts. That should help. Thanks for the feedback.

I've learned so much from your 'standard length' DVD's & continue to replay sections from time to time for reinforcement. It may be a good idea for me to start a log of what I go back to & give you some input on what 'shorts' work for me. I'm not a universal or wide ranging segment sample but; who knows?.

As usual, great job Dr. Dave, 1st outing or not.(y)
