I guess maybe it needs to be bolded. Three players have been selected already for Team USA at the Mosconi Cup.

Johnny Archer
Shane Van Boening
Rodney Morris

Buddy Hall will be present but not playing. He will be a co-captain with Johnny Archer.

Two more slots are open for Team USA at the time of this writing.

I picked Earl and Corey because I think their records show that they do well under pressure, and with USA losing the past years over and over previously to the old days where US used to win every mosconi cup, team USA needs confident, and with having Earl and Corey in the team it may boost moral and confident of the team.

So that was my pick based on.

It's Earl and Dennis.

Earl is a no-brainer for obvious reasons.

Dennis over Corey because he is energetic and pumps his fist and shouts while corey is more mellow.
He brings a little of the crazy, like Earl. Some friendly crowd interaction.
Corey also has developed a rep of a guy who is young but somehow past his prime.
Maybe that's a little unfair but the perception is he's lost interest and drive in pool,
he brings a lot less energy to the spectacle than Dennis.

With already three names announced and two spots left for the upcoming Mosconi Cup XX, one has to assume the best players in the last 19 installments of Matchroom's flagship show will come back...

So I'm asking, who do you think would be the best team for the USA, and will be filling the last two spots ?

IMO, there are three names in contention, although Jeremy Jones has played and won a few Cups.

Johnny Archer
Shane Van Boening
Rodney Morris
Dennis Hatch
Earl Strickland
Buddy Hall co-capt.

Hatch is good still. Hatch can put The Squirrel in a head lock if he gets out of hand!:thumbup:

Well, it looks like the top pick is no longer possible.

I am reminded of the year that there was a poll for who should be inducted into the BCA's Hall of Fame. There were three selections, and Earl Strickland was one of them. He got over 80 percent of the vote. The two others were inducted into the BCA's Hall of Fame thereafter. Earl, even with 80 percent of what is considered the "popular vote," did not get in.

It's the same with the Office of the President. The electoral vote elects the President, not the popular vote, though I have often wondered why that is. :)

Earl and Hatch is my vote. Hatch brings a winning spirit and energy to the team and knows how to work the crowd. He is a positive figure for the team. Earl needs to keep his head on straight and just play pool, and this will be a great combination for the final two!!
