Might be old news...But I just saw his name is added to the list of confirmed players! I love watching him play. I thought after getting kicked out last year that he wouldn't show up this year! No one attracts a crowd to the pro arena like Earl that's for sure!

I was there last year, that ref was (in my opinion)a compleat clown(even looks like a real clown),

Well here's the thing... Earl was acting up bad early on banging his cue stick against stuff... yelling and cussing the usual upset earl. What he got kicked out for was B.s. I saw on the first day a pro player walk up to that clown and tell him his opponent isn't there yet and it's been 15 min's . He told him your right it's a forfeit. The guys opponent come's in like 5 mins. later and I heard him tell the guy sorry your a pro you need to be on time (I was on the vip side right by the entrance so I could hear everything) I completely agree with this! What I have a problem with is two days later Earl walks up and say's hey it's been 20 mins. my opponent isn't here (again I was on the vip side right by the entrance) and he tells her "Hold on... I'll call him" and earl says "wtf do you mean you'll call him? " lol anyone would be upset! so I agree earl was out of line earlier but what he got kicked out for was shit. What do you expect when you have a comedian instead of a knowledgeable player as your ref lol

Yeah that T.D thinks that the whole show is about him and how he can be involved and be in charge. He isn't the guy I would pick for an event that has so many egos and pool stars. I think he is friends with AH and just gets the job as a result of that. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't do it for free so he can be the center of attention.

Is he in place again this year? (The T.D.)

To deal with that bunch of egos and pool stars, you have to have a pretty big ego yourself or they will roll right over you. The TD at VF does a pretty good job of handling things. I've seen some players give him a pretty rough time and he always handles it. He may make a mistake once in a while but who hasn't. If every TD who has had a problem with Earl was fired, there wouldn't be enough TD's to go around. The infraction that Earl was DQ'd for may not have been much but it may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

BTW, the TD at VF is a very knowledgeable pool player and he has acted as TD for quite a number of top events including the annual Tournament of Champions on ESPN.

I agree. I was there last year too and Earl was really pushing the limits. I love watching Earl and wanted to tell him to just shut up and play.

I like watching Earl play on television, his outburst are just bonuses the way I look at it.

If he did not get upset during or after the match I always felt a little ripped off.

He can shoot pool and I like watching people who can shoot pool. He gets a thumbs up from me.

Every sport needs a Earl he is just not affraid to let out steam, i wont call him a jackass or a dumb ass he is not any of those he just does things diffrent.

I would love to see him a capitol one creditcard commercial with him saying whats in your wallet.

Earl's outbursts shark his opponents and disturb every other match in the room.
Some spectators may consider it entertaining but, if you're in a match and trying to get ahead in a tournament, it is nothing more than a serious distraction.

Frank Del Pizzo and Allen Hopkins are friends, which may be why he first entered the wonderful world of pocket billiards. ;)

Actually, though, he is a comedian by trade. Check out his website: FrankDelPizzo.com.

I've met him at several pool events, and I thought he had a great personality on the offs. He always brandished a smile on his face, and he was quite pleasant to talk to.

When he was in the TD role, however, I found him to be all business, which is okay. That is what a TD should be.

Here's a snapshot he graciously allowed me to take of him at a Skins event in Atlantic City. He was the TD for all Skins Billiards Tournaments too.

I agree. I actually like Frank. He's a real hoot when you get him on the side -- quick with a smile, and a joke about whatever situation is going on around him. You have to see him at the players' meetings -- he'll keep you in stitches with the wisecracks. At last year's SBE Open 10-ball players' meeting (the Wednesday night one), Frank and I were busting on Dennis Hatch -- Dennis had asked Frank to mount his Diamond sponsor patch on the back of his shirt in the usual place (near the collar on the back of the neck), and Frank was playing around, mounting it sideways, upside-down, etc. I loudly told Frank, "hey, you better get Dennis' 'hatchstamp' correct!" Dennis "got it" right away, turns to me and goes, "Awww mannnnnn!!" :D That got quite a few chuckles, obviously.

Frank is stern (but fair!) when it comes to running tournaments. A lot of "fans" of certain players may not like Frank (e.g. fans of Earl, or fans of Jonathan Pinegar), because he takes no BS. But make no mistake, you won't find "the ship" (i.e. the tournament itself) rolling over because a few players are allowed leeway to do what they want and make the whole thing (and the fans) suffer.

YES!

I like Earl (when I'm not playing him) but yeah I wish some of these people who thinks the stuff he does is funny would have been in my shoes at the dcc this year when i had to play a match on the table beside him.Distracting is to put it nicely. He has gotten so bad with his antics that it might be time someone puts a stop to it.Enough is enough. For the record this is the only time i have ever had a bad thing to say about Earl but when he starts bothering me while I'm trying to scratch out a little living in this game. That's when i have had enough of him.He has zero respect for anyone else in the whole tourny room!!On top of his loud mouth i thought he was going to stab me with that stinking 7ft. stick he was using. He's a great guy untill you put that pole in his hands then he turns into some kind of monster.Folks...it aint funny no more.I do feel sorry for Earl too if it means anything. But like I said enough is enough.John Brumback
