There is some chatter about this on Earl's Twitter account.
Infancy stage it seems, but I think it could be great!!!
Hope it happens!

Earl is one of my favorite players and I'd love to see a movie about his life, but I think it's too early for a Strickland movie right now. Maybe once he retires from pool. The Earl Strickland documentary is good enough for me for right now. I wouldn't mind seeing a similar documentary about Efren (I also think it's too early for an Efren movie).

This is true, the producer/writer saw the documentary about Earl produced by Sky Sports and contacted Earl wanting to turn his life story into a movie...the producer then flew out and met with Earl a few months ago and is ready to go full force...nonetheless, he has crudentials in producing quality movies with one coming out in theatres in May!

but who?????

A young Sean Penn mighta made a good Earl......
not sure if he could do the voice, maybe Joe Rogan could dub his over.:D

Sean Pennis good. but i'm partial to Matthew McConaughey.
i'll throw my 14yr old in the hat to play a younger Earl - they don't look similar, but he can be a jack-leg!

Freudian slip ?
* snort* lol

movie

it will need an excellent script or it will be like most movies today junk.
that is why the movie industry is suffering.
a while back a screenwriter went to a movie producer/director and handed him 80 blank pages and said put your magic on that... its the writing.
every thing takes off from there.

if Earl was to come back at this point and win another world's or the open again, it could make for a good finish to a movie.

Hell, they could always just take creative license with his life anyways...I'm sure they would regardless, anyways.

I like Ed Norton to play Earl.

I would pay to see it, although I would hope they don't go all COM style on it and glorify the hustler image. While it is an intriguing part of American Folklore, Earl went beyond that. He is such an interesting character, and it would be great if his passion for the game was shown in the film instead of the familiar stereotypes of gamblers and hustlers.

In my mind, it would ideally be shot in a similar way to "The Wrestler" was done. Realistic and un-tinted by rose colored glasses, showing the ups and downs of the hard life of a pool player.

I think there have been some good actors suggested to play Earl, especially
Matthew McConaughey.

I also think Billy Bob Thornton could carry it off.

I don't know about Woody Harrelson
