Having FINALLY finished watchign the 1st Action Challenge (Thanks JCin)....

Something have been passing thru my mind......

What will people think of Earl if he runs over SVB or even just barely beats him.........Will he be worshiped like a god like SVB has been these pass 2 months??.....

If Earl does win then people will make excuses why he did,its sad but i still have faith in Earl and wont kick him when he is down,he catches that gear and SVB is in trouble. :cool:
 
If Earl comes to play and jumps out to a 6-10 game lead SVB doesn't have to like it at all. I'm sure Earl has the talent to win in that case. Johnnyt
 
I find it interesting what the guy said at the WPC about Shane saying things about he cannot get out of a tough shot and thats what takes a champion or something along those lines... And I remember Earl could make tough shots all day long and tell the crowd and his opponent why while he was doing it. Earl also has a TON more experience than Shane has.

I'm still going with Earl outright winning it.

I think you've got it backwards here. Isn't Earl the one that people have been making excuses for some time now?
 
This is an interesting match-up, a 24-year-old who has blossomed quickly into a champion-caliber player against a 46-year-old who has achieved the highest order of excellence already in pocket billiards.

There are many determining factors which go into the equation of who's the favorite and who's the dog in this race.

Shane, because of his youth, has endurance. Though I don't think being 46 is over the hill quite yet, since I'm 53 -- :D -- Earl's game is multi-faceted. Many people say it will depend on which Earl will show up. Earl's got the skills set to beat Shane, no question in my mind whatsoever.

I do know from reading the pool media that Earl has been and still is suffering from kidney stones. At the WPC recently, he told a Filipino reporter that he was in pain. I saw Earl at two events when he played pool suffering from those kidney stones.

At the Trump Marina 10-ball Championship in Atlantic City, Earl was taken to the emergency room one night during the event because of the pain, but he somehow managed to make it to his match the next afternoon. He was wearing a jacket over a sweater. Because he suffers from pain, one side effect, maybe from the medication, is that he gets cold very easily. He also performed at the Carolinas Open a few years back, after having come from the hospital because of these kidney stones.

Shane suffered an infected foot at the WPC, but I think his foot has recovered by now. Earl, on the other hand, still is plagued by these damn kidney stones.

So which Earl will show up to play Shane? If he's not in pain, we may see Earl's best game. I know when I am sick and/or in pain, I cannot bang out as many pages for my job as I can when I feel good.

Now, I am not making excuses for Earl or Shane. I am just stating some facts that do come into play when speaking about these two matching up two days from now.

I believe Earl's seasoning in broadcast and high-profile events will be an asset to Earl's corner. I think Shane's determination and 10-ball skills will be an asset to Shane's corner.

If I were the bookie making a tout sheet, I'd want to survey the horses right before the race, check out their gait, their mood, their activities the day before the race. We're in the blind here back at home, but if both players bring their best game to the table, I think it is a pretty even match, weighing in all the variables.

Just curious - couldn't the Doctors have done something about kidney stones after all this time? I'm sure there have to be some kind of procedures they can do to eliminate them. That would stink having to deal with that kind of pain all of the time.

The thing is....new ones form. It's a continuous process.

He's had procedures to remove them previously. They usually don't want to operate unless it's the last resort. There is a new process (lipotripsy) that uses sound waves to actually smash them into smaller pieces where they'll be able to pass more easily. It's a VERY expensive treatment.

Afterwards, you feel like a world champion heavyweight worked you over.

Usually you have to change your diet too. Most of the time the stones are composed of calcium carbonate, (Limestone) when they form, they crystalize in your sysyem. Think snowflake...LARGE snowflakes. If you have ever seen a snowflake magnified, they have thousands of sharp edges. They cut into you as they pass thru your system.

It's one of the most painful conditions there is. Not too mention the infection, and high fevers associated with passing them.

You wouldn't want your worst enemy going thru it.

The answer to kidney stones, is to drink Water, Water, Water, and more water.

Don't let the buggers form...

Lipotripsy can really damage other parts of your system, and sometimes results in diabetes. No fun.
