What is Earl using these days? I read somewhere that he is using a OB1 shaft?
Is this true? And other than John Schmidt, any other pro's using the OB1?

Earl is using a new cue called the Earl Strickland cue. I am building this line for him. The shaft is an OB1 with a special Earl taper and the butt has a special taper also. The tip is probable the most amazing thing about it. It is a modified elk master that does not mushroom very much at all. We modify it in a way that it does not feel soft at all. The hit is powerful and even miscues draw and follow the cue ball. I have changed over to the OB1 myself and I am very impressed with its power. I think that the cue with the new tapers make for a piece of equipment that is more powerful than any other cue I have ever used. I can draw my ball farther and make spin shots with less effort. I am in the process of making the new line available for sale as we speak. Earl has agreed to partner with me in this new line of cues. We have together developed what I and Earl think is the best cue on the market. It will sell for around $700.00. I have a few in stock ready to ship. He will be using this new cue at Goldsboro, US Open, The World Championships and the match with Shane in Louisville.

What ever happened to cue-tec and Earl? Good to hear though...! Go Earl go!

Mike do you have this new cue on your web-site?

do you have pictures available on your site? i haven't seen the cue yet

Shafts

So Earl is going in with you on a new cue. Does this mean that he gets his shafts at wholesale from OB1? If that is so, it will be a good thing with his habit of breaking them when he gets angry for missing a shot.

was there really any need for that comment.

No there wasn't. People in glass houses should not throw stones.
I am happy for Earl and Mike. I think it is a great partnership and wish them all the best. I have an OB-1 and the 314-2 - I have been playing with the OB-1 much more lately. Nothing special about the shaft - other than the shooter :D

Earls Cue

I stood right next to Earl at the 2007 DCC this year while he was talking to Corey Duel, he was waiting for his bank match to start. He would say something to Corey then look at me like he was looking for my agreement to what he said, I was pretty much dumbfounded. Seems he's a regular guy:)

I was looking at his cue and I remember the shafts taper seemed to start about an inch from the joint. It went directly to the size of the tip. His Tip also looked as though it was almost mushroomed shaped. Very bizarre looking but evidently it works great for him, he seems to have a long stroke.

I watched him bank 5 shots in a row, just pow, pow, pow. His speed didn't change at all from shot to shot, he railed those balls in.

If your going to be coming out with a cue like his,,,,,,I'll try one.

Good luck with your venture, I wish you and Earl the best.

Thanks for the info Mike

If you could post pictures of the cue and its specs, either on your website or here, it would be appreciated.

I am sure many players would be interested in it.

Mike,

Thanks for posting!

I'm really interested in this new cue.

Can you give me an idea what kind of taper this shaft will have? Others have posted about it being a really long taper, but you didn't say.

What will the tip size be?

Will the shaft have a pro-taper, a longer pro-taper?

Also, I'm interested in your comments about the shaft being powerful, and so on. I have an OB-1 and it's not as powerful as regular solid maple shafts that I have that are similar in taper. Just wondering.

By the way, good luck with your new venture!

hi

Sounds like Earl is not using cuetec anymore. I could see on his face that he did not like those cuetec cues...

I hear "modified Elkmaster" & straight away I'm thinking "Milk Dud!"

I doubt it is that but they sure sound like that description!:D

Gulyassy strickland cue

Hey guys. I read this post a few weeks back and as a result contacted Mike Gulyassy about the new Strickland cue. Purchased one and now that I've had a few weeks to play with it wanted to give Mike some feedback on the forum. I have played with a Predator for about 3 years now and recently purchased a Predator SE 14. I was playing with that when I bought the MG cue and have to say that I love this cue. I played 1/2 a match with the Predator and 1/2 with the MG and there was no contest. The balance is better, the feel is better and what seems to me that when you are shooting with the cue that the same weight feels lighter. Thumbs up Mike. Not the prettiest stick I've ever seen but definitely the nicest I've shot with. :)
