Ebay Unknown "Custom Cue"

Yes a scruggs would be marked!!!!

Plus the finish is most definitely old on that puppy and you can not replace the butt cap with out a refinish. So, most likely a Bushka. She never showed the little brown bushka bumper on the bottom of his cues and that would just about seal it.

I don't have the funds to pay what this thing may go for but if you must know if authentic then call downingtown PA and speak to pete sinkler and see if he could shed some light on the cue.

He is your best bet on identifing old bushka's and boti's in my humble opinion.

Diamonds are not old style, set to high in the points, points to separated at the base, rings in the collars to thin, collars are double black phenolic. Cue is NOT a Bushka, cue might be a Joss West, Scruggs, any number of cue makers familiar with the old style.

I think it is a Palmer, our buddy Tate would know because he is the expert. It sure isn't a Mali.

I've seen a lot of Palmers but never saw one with that kind of design. I can now see the pics and it still looks like a Scruggs to me. It's not a 'Bushka, nor do I think it's a Szamboti.

The MOP looks too old.

Looks like a Adam's Balabushka that has been refinished.

The MOP diamonds look too old to be an Adams balabushka. The diamonds look about as old or older than the diamonds in my 74 Rich.

I have never seen Richard Black make a cue in this style, but he has done tons of different things with cues. The points look like his and the joint protector on the shaft looks like the ones I got with my RB in 1990. I think the diamonds also look like his work. RB is my vote. Buttcap is his. My guess it that it is a cue that was made in about 1990. The lighting makes the finish look aged, but I do not think it is that old.

$9600 is sale price

At 9600 final sale price you best believe it has been authenticated by someone out there. All these cue experts kept saying it is not a bushka and I really must wonder why?? I guess the good old art of misdirection. It could have been a steal for someone out there but threads like this kill that possibility! if not for azb posters i and a million other members would have never even know about it! The only one that gets hurt by these post are the "cue pimps" I believe someone coined that term on this forum. They buy LOW and sell HIGH!!!!!! They bank on your lack of knowledge and their ability to identify what others may struggle with!!!

like that famous saying "a suckers born every minute" I hope my info helped someone out there!

That would be me, thank you very much. It's a term of endearment.

Your post is ambiguous. Do you agree with the consensus that this is not a BUSHKA or do you think that we collaborated to discredit the cue so one of us could "steal" it for $9600+?

Ribdoner,

At $9600 I believe some one did their homework on the cue. If they did not then they are a fool and deserve to buy a $1600 for $9600!!!!

in order for it to reach 9600 on a 1600 cue there must be at least 2 people that believe its real or it would not get that high!!! some one else bid 9500 if it was going up by 100 each bid!

I do believe some of the post were questionable at best and did not reflect the finish and age it clearly had. plus, the lack of markings was big for me and the fact it resembled another bushka also helped.

As far as the conspiracy theory goes some were innocent comments and others were from pro-claimed experts in my opinion. The experts want you to believe some fool spent 9600 on a 1600 cue and that 2 people were so mis-informed and too cheap to fly or drive to conn and have the cue examined prior to bidding 9600 is just crazy to me!!!

But i have seen mis direction and low balling estimates to snag a deal before on here and else where! So, it is not outside the realm of possibility!!!!!

It appears that your adamant about the cue selling as a BUSHKA. Do you have a horse in the race?

Hey Riblet,

I just saw you added onto your post this last comment. You my friend can check my post and history to see I am from Washington, DC and live near Keith and JAM who are well known on this board!!! I have nothing to do with the listing at all. I am not from connecticut and did not post the thread that started this!!!!

I played in the juniors with Pete Sinklers son and saw the huge cue collection first hand and remember it looking similar to the one he had among others. If you do not know who he is or never heard of him in the cue game I do not know what to tell you!!!!!

It just goes to show you the tacky people on here sling mud and trying to start a flame war!!! "Do I have a horse in the race" riblet you dont want none son, have you ever heard of Barbque? we all know how riblets do in flame wars!!!!!

If memory serves me correctly that cue made its way throu Downingtown Pennsylvania!!! A great guy named Pete Sinkler who holds a kid tournament their for a number of years used to own that cue as well as almost every famous BUSKA known to man. His billiard collection is unsurpassed. This was over 20 years ago but back then he had them all just about!!!!

it will be fun to see the fighting and bidding on this one!!!! Pete's collection was pretty extensive and when a pool player needed some dough he bought their cues and I am sure this cue has some pedigree if you look through old billiard publications and ask old time hustlers they may even be able to tell you which road agent it belonged too!!

What is a riblet? Is that an insult of some kind? I simply asked if you had a horse in the race, or, do you have an interest in the cue being something it isn't. A simple NO would have sufficed. If your "you don't want none son" comment is a threat of any kind it's LAUGHABLE. My name is ADAM. People in this area know who I am. If you like PM me and I'll give you referances.;)

Your not playing with the "juniors" now...;)

Hmmm... I guess I was mistaken. I am actually excited for the buyer. I like it when a treasure is found. To be truthful, I am actually shocked that someone would post a cue of that value without knowing what the heck it was to begin with. That is idiocy. They could have gotten more if they had known what it was.

Sorry if anyone held back their bid because of my opinion. I offered what I know and obviously it is JACK! Haha!

I am not nearly as smart as I thought I looked.

Also: rest assured that I discussed nor colluded with anyone regarding this cue.

For what it's worth, I was going to try to snag the cue in the last hour, but the bidding just got out of hand. I would have liked to buy it in the 3K range. Wishful thinking. :)
