Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante headline the forthcoming Asia versus Europe Challenge. They are part of a team captained by HRH Crown Prince Billah of Brunei who take on a powerful European team in a Mosconi Cup style contest. The other two spots are filled out by Yang and Kuo from Taiwan.

Europe field Souquet, Appleton, Feijen, van den Berg and Chinakov. Scheduled for August 6th to 9th in Darusalam.

I think one of the 5 europeans should be replaced by me.:D
Just to level out the somewhat unbalanced quality in the Asian team.

Seriously, if I had the money to arrange and stake my own tournaments, I would alwyas save a spot for myself also. Even if the prince's participation may be somewhat questionnable, this is exactly what pool needs: Pooladdicts with money!

This is an invitation event that does not fall under the auspices of the WPA. Just like the Matchroom special events it does not require any WPA sanctioning nor does it need to follow any rules of participation set forth by the WPA.

Efren and Busti will always be first pick for promotoers who want the best!

.......... Shane and Corey should be too. :groucho:

The asian team should have Alcano. He is always consistantly a top performer. just my 2cents

You got that right. The Prince of Brunei's involvement and participation in pool and pool tournaments is ALL GOOD!.

Speaking of Big Spenders, and you living in Norway, will you be coming to the Galveston, TX BIG MONEY POOL TOURNAMENT IN SEPTEMBER?

I heard that one of the promoters want me to bring a sack of money to gamble with. (I'm not sure what he meant) I only wanted to bring enough money to buy the Corvette at 50 cents on the dollar that the promoters will be giving to the All Around Champion (providing the negotiations with the dealership hold up). In that case, I won't have much spare change left over, pal.;)

If you split the purchase of the Corvette with me, we could tour some of the U.S. in the Corvette, giving away our surplus monies to other gamblers, floozies, pool room owners and other pool degenerates like ourselves. When we ran out of money we could sell the Corvette and hop a plane back to our respective communities. :D

Yang and Kuo are awesome compliments to efren and busta. No disrespect to Europe, that team is a class group but damn the Asian team looks unbeatable. Remember the Yang-Orcullo long race. Yang surprised allot of people including me.

Not to ruin Jays action here, but didnt you guys notice that the team contains of 5 players?:D

show me the money!

what will the wining side win? or should I say how much?

who's putting on the event? is it the prince? i'm assuming so, 'cause how else would he get a spot!

i had to laugh when i saw this post because it mentioned the prince and bustamante on the same team. i guess it pays dividends to dump a few games to his royal highness during a WPC match.

i'm sure efren and busty will be WELL compensated just for participating regardless if they win or loose.

i've always heard and read on wikipedia just how much his family is worth but i have never seen it translate into the huge payouts in tournaments or events like this his camp has put together. apparently one HRH's favorite past times is shooting pool.

as far as who will win, let's say i'd be suprised if the asian side pulls it off. django and yang are strong but let's be realistic and admit that efren's dominating years are behind him. kuo can play but when you look at the other side it really seems lopsided. oh and lets not foreget that his royal highness is no where close to anyone's class on either side so it's a big handi for the asian side.

not unless they pull the same kind of bull i saw first hand at WPC '06.
