Efren Reyes vs Scott Frost - Who do you like?

Even though Efren lost so decisively, I still found some beauty in his game but the shot making firepower wasn't there.

A tough event for him, for sure.

So what does this mean for Scott? Is he in high consideration for top 1p player?

What do the 1p specialists say?

best,
brian kc
I thought he has been in contention for some years now????

I don't follow 1p too closely.

Had he been winning major 1p tourneys over the last few years?

best,
brian kc

No idea, don't follow tourney too much either, BUT - before he " retired " a few years back I always heard he was the man to beat . ....... in one hole.

My bad. Didn't realize you were in the HOF. Any DVD's available?

Personally I have no achievements in the world of pool to toot my own horn about.

I still prefer Incardona's opinion to yours.

I'll let my other comments stand until I watch some of your DVD's.

Most great athletes let their achievements speak for themselves. I never saw Jim Brown do a touchdown dance or ask the crowd to cheer for him.

Accu-stats has one of him beating somebody named Cliff Joyner.

That one I will probably get. Watched Joyner quite a bit when he was here on the Left Coast. Cowboy, now deceased, drove him all over from LA to Ventura getting him action. At he end of Joyner's stay he gave Cowboy $50 for gas. You had to hear Cowboy tell the story. LOL

While Joyner was at Hard Times he was scheduled to match up with John Schmidt after the 1st Sunday of the month. John went deep into the tournament so Joyner practiced on table 6 while waiting. He was making everything. It looked like an exhibition. It looked as if giving John 10/8 was going to be child's play.

Finally John was done with the tournament and it was time to get down to action. BAM. John tore through Joyner so fast that it looked like he could have given Joyner 10/6.

I've been on this forum for over a dozen years. And I finally have my third ignored member.

slow rolling balls are rolling off as much as 2-3 inches coming down the rail approaching this right corner pocket.

If the Panera one was doing this you might miss and chip a tooth. :grin-square:

It seems like that would benefit the guy playing power 1p more than the guy who plays a more precise pocket speed game but if Efren's backers were willing to go under those conditions that's their business, not mine.

Alex still has my vote as the one to beat... although I love Scotts firepower moving abilities.....

I tend to agree with you..Alex is certainly playing the best one pocket of anyone these days..It also appears he has Scott's number, much the same as Scott seems to have Efren's!

I wonder how Dennis Orcullo would do against Frost or Alex in a long 1 pocket match. He is such a straight shooter. He is able to overcome some strategic errors or lack of knowledge due to his great shot making and position play.

Dennis is playing with a lot of confidence now, mostly in his shot making ability. But I have to think, that either Alex or Scott would beat him in a long, 1P gambling session. His shot selection and moving at 1P is still a little behind those two, and a few others.

Hey stranger..Did you ever stop to think maybe thats why you didn't know I was in the HOF, because I never "toot my own horn" about it..Nor do I ask the "crowd to cheer for me"???..You really need to brush up on your analogies. :o

PS..Very few DVD's of my playing days..I retired almost before DVD's were invented :sorry: ..Certainly well before everyone had a camera built into their phone!..From what you've shown me so far, you wouldn't know enough about pool to evaluate my play anyway! (maybe Cardone will help you?)

not a huge fan of frost, simply because he is a horrible man but fair is fair he out-shot and out thought and out fought Efren in every department. I thought Efren would of made it much closer but expected Scott to come good over the longer race.

i cant believe people are talking about Scott and alex again, alex has already dominated scott twice. IMO frost has to play someone in order to get a shot against alex again and be contender.

j hall maybe, Danny smith plays good 1p, bergman, shane, orcullo the latter three would be the ones id like to see scott match up with in his next big 1P score and see how does with them.

I tend to agree, All except for Orcullo..At his present stage of development, (at one pocket) I believe Dennis would be a cake walk for Scott, in a lengthy 1P session!

PS..Jay Helfert may not agree with my assessment, but I'm quite sure Cardone would!

Well Lenny, to be fair, SJD was in his 60's in 1998 so he definitely had the edge on Cliff in experience. He also wore that horrible sweater which had to throw Cliff off at least a little:p.

I just got through talking to Andy Olguin in Amarillo he said to tell you hello, and he wanted to know if you've ever played Greg Stevens any 1 pocket

Scott has made numerous posts and challenges over the last year saying he would play anybody on the planet other than Alex in a big money even one pocket match.

Got to give Efren credit he was the only guy to step up to the plate and accept Scott's offer to play.

About Scott playing Alex again the last time they played after 4 days of playing 8-10 hours a day Alex was up only one game and it took 5 hard fought days for Alex to win you call that dominated i sure don't that is about as close of a match as you will ever see lol

Scott said he can't beat Alex but i think that might be his only choice i don't think any of those other guys want anything to do with Scott playing even one pocket for big money.
