Electronic scales

You can purchase a Postal Scale at Staples, they have several to choose from. Try getting one that registers ounces & part of ounces. Also get one with a good size weigh table (good size = 6 inches ??). You can make a V-block to hold the cue, butt or shaft so it doesn't roll off.

Good Luck

I'm looking for a good set of scales that are best suited for cue sticks. Any suggestions?

What ever you buy make sure it has a gram setting, it is more accurate,. Also be sure to use the division of 28.35 and not 28. On a 20 ounce cue you will be off by 1/4 ounce if you just use 28.

I've got this one. Highly recommended. Its accuracy is to 1/10 ounce or 1 gram. I checked mine against some OHaus calibration weights when I got it, and the accuracy was spot on. Mine came with a tube tray for weighing postal mailing tubes that works well for weighing cues, but I'm not sure if that still comes with it. Excellent quality at this price.

I used an electronic food scale for years, but this one looks like your best bet for sure.

A good way to test a scales accuracy is to weigh a nickel. It should weigh 5 grams.

I use this one. They work excellent and are under $10.00 shipped. Like the previous poster I have checked this one with calibration weights and it is spot on.

I have one of these. I bought a 500 gram weight to test it and it's perfect! ... and for $10 shipped. I bought a second one just to have one handy and where I want it. Pocket sized... not much bigger than a deck of cards. I stacked a couple rows of address labels on the bed so cues wouldn't roll off.

After taking it out of the protective sleeve you have to remember to take the plastic cover off the bed. :embarrased: It works a whole lot better that way.

Coincidence

I just sold the one I carry! One guy wanted me to weigh a cue he had just bought, then another guy, seeing me weighing the cue asked me to weigh his cue. Then a third guy asked where he could get a scale like that. The third guy was an old friend of mine, so I was happy to sell him the scale for $11.

Been there done that!

I have one of those scales and yes you have to take the cover off. Done that a few times myself!!

I bought a 5 lb. postal scale at Office Depot years ago and it works perfectly. Make sure to get one that measures grams also. They are dirt cheap.
