There's an argument to be made that if it was in a more populated location (actually in London) it would probably be a lot more well attended. Not that getting to Milton Keynes is particularly difficult but it wouldn't be my first choice of location, although what Matchroom do with the venue is superb. I did notice that the location of the UK Open changed from being in London to Milton Keynes - which is a bit of a shame.Good interview by both Karl and Emily. Karl asks the right questions and Emily gave him straight answers. IMO she has learned a great deal about our sport since she first got involved with Matchroom. Her comments about the size of the pockets and the use of wood triangles tells me she has done her homework.
I agree that the color of the four and five balls should go back to their original colors. There was absolutely no reason to change them! But that is a minor quibble on my part. The fact that Matchroom is basically moving pool's homebase from the home of pool in the USA bothers me a lot more. Especially when I see so few fans in the arena at the WPC. Put that event on here and you will crowds of people every day! I guess that's to be expected when a British company takes over the professional end of the sport. It's now up to us here to create other high dollar events to complement what mathroom is doing over there. I just don't see Predators Pro Billiard Series as doing that yet. They will need to pump up the prize money and get rid of the silly shoot out to make their events look legit.
Have you ever seen the Russian Billiard tables? As for balls rattling and not going in , the snooker tables are unbelievable the balls that go in.
Yes and my comment was about loose pockets.Have you ever seen the Russian Billiard tables?
Where did you get this info? The Matchroom website presently shows the event in London at the Copper Box Arena.I did notice that the location of the UK Open changed from being in London to Milton Keynes - which is a bit of a shame.
IIRC somewhere on FB and the Matchroom site - not long after the event was announced. Although I could be wrong.Where did you get this info? The Matchroom website presently shows the event in London at the Copper Box Arena.
The event was announced three months ago. Surely, if the location was changed shortly after that, Matchroompool.com would not still show it as being in London. In addition, your link goes to a page that shows this event as being in London. I'm very confused here.IIRC somewhere on FB and the Matchroom site - not long after the event was announced. Ignore me. Looks like I was just being a bit confused. The UK Open is scheduled to be in London at the Olympic Park! The event was announced three months ago. I've done the drive from London to Milton Keynes and, in normal traffic, it takes about an hour and a quarter. In busy traffic, perhaps an hour and a half. Yes, it's not that tough to get to, but it's not really near the population center that is London. There's an argument to be made that if it was in a more populated location (actually in London) it would probably be a lot more well attended. Thanks for clarifying. I'll be in London for a couple of weeks in May and plan to attend the UK Open while I'm there. I'm pleased to learn that I won't have to go to Milton Keynes to see the event.Ignore me. Looks like I was just being a bit confused. I appears they've built a great culture which is the backbone to the success of any endeavor.I'm glad I never had to publicly interview my boss during my corporate days. Karl Boyes is a brave man and did a great job. No wonder Emily agreed not to terminate him!
When you roll his presentation skills and his commentating skills into one big ball, it's obvious that Karl is one of Matchroom's MVPs. He was at his very best during the WPC.I appears they've built a great culture which is the backbone to the success of any endeavor.

I agree. The original colors were just fine... From a pool players point of view.Good interview by both Karl and Emily. Karl asks the right questions and Emily gave him straight answers. You and me both! Though I am gutted I didn't make it out to watch the finals of the World Championships this year. I hope it's ok if I say hello should I pop in to watch the UK Open! Thanks for clarifying. I'll be in London for a couple of weeks in May and plan to attend the UK Open while I'm there. Jay you are spot on. If the just completed Worlds had been hosted in the US it would have been SRO. I think this is one of the issues facing Matchroom - how to grow the fan base in UK.Good interview by both Karl and Emily. Karl asks the right questions and Emily gave him straight answers.
