End of DAZN finally?

Why? Isn’t it basically arbitrary?
It makes more sense to have the parts in increasing or decreasing importance. For example, in the case of filenames, they sort better if you have year first.

So: YYYY-MM-DD-HH:MM:SS.dddd

The US military uses (or used) the unambiguous format: 4 Jul 1776, or 4 Jul 76 and that's how I give my birthday when asked. No one has had a problem understanding what I mean.

The standard American format is broken and stupid, but it won't seem that way to most Americans because it is what they're used to.

Question. If WNT.tv is for Matchroom Pool WNT events, what happens to snooker? Does Matchroom.live go dead? WIll they still stream snooker matches? Will WNT.tv stream snooker matches?

Snooker will be on WST.TV. Pool will live on WNT.TV (wnttv.com). Matchroom.live will be discontinued after Jan 6 2025.

Basically, instead of a $5.99 service where you could watch snooker and pool, you would have two separate $10 services. Sounds like a sweet deal.

I was always super happy with DAZN except for the price. When it was $120 range in the beginning, I had the full year subscription, and used it exclusively for pool. When they later raised the price, I would buy it for the month and then immediately cancel. I never had any issues with subscriptions, and I don't believe with my experience they were doing anything shady.

The main issues I saw reading other people's accounts were:
1) confusing the per month price when signing up with a full year, vs the per month when signing up monthly
2) The 30 days notice required for cancellation
3) The service reps "begging" to keep a customer

Pretty much most subscription services do the same 3 things. Issue 1 is on the consumer imo, they didn't read. Issue 2 is very common, and we found a way around it by cancelling right after purchasing. Issue 3 we found a way around it by managing the subscription via iOS/Android.

The service itself was excellent. It worked very easily on iPhone, iPad, and computer. No hoops to go through to view like some of the independent pool streamers.

Now, we will be switching to a new provider. Will it be MR themselves doing the video hosting? I hope for our sakes they are partnering with a big streaming company. Otherwise, the service will probably be crap during the peak periods.

Didn’t know you were that old. 😇

Given how well MR’s Youtube channel works, I have to figure it will be just fine. I have no trouble with YouTube channel like I did with DAZN.

Youtube is owned and implemented by Google, who has invested billions in their worldwide networks, data centers, and infrastructure. Very few providers are going to work better than youtube.

Netflix and DAZN don't even run their own infrastructures, they both run on AWS (amazon web services). Unless wnt.tv is going to be running on either youtube or AWS, the service probably can't really be compared. But live pool events don't draw near as many viewers as NFL/NBA/NHL/soccer events.

Issue #2 with the 30 days notice is definitely not common. It is predatory and an outdated a-hole business move

I disagree. You want to cancel rent it’s a 60 day notice. You want to cancel a phone plan there is a penalty. Many services have something similar.

Class action suits are usually money grabs by ambulance chasing lawyers. I don’t put much stock in them.

Anyway, I hope the new service is not glitchy and is based on AWS or similar.

Why?
Liberty, son. Liberty.

Just yesterday, an senior citizen in his 80s contacted me privately and asked how he could stop DAZN from charging his bank account. He went online with the chatbot and spent hours trying to stop it. They told him they would two months ago. He's being charged every month and is still being charged. I feel so sorry for him. He is very upset. I told him to go to his bank and tell them to put a stop on future charges, which he will do.

DAZN Is a predator website. I pray that whoever Matchroom Pool gets to handle the WNT.tv that they have experience and are nothing like DAZN's staff.

Anybody been able to create an account on WNTTV? It went live today.
Not yet but the snooker version (WST) went live today and I got a subscription. They had my account info from matchroom.live. I imagine it is the same tech people and they will do the WNT next.

I'm in right now. For Mosconi Cup it seems like a smattering of matches from 95, 96, 97, 02, 03, 05, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Some years they only have like one match. Some a handful. None look like the full event.

What about other events the last couple of years? A selection of matches from each?
