End of the WPA Russia Ban

Another point of view...

I guess if you lived in Ukraine, your opinion might differ.
Just because you don't like someone, a group of people even, isn't a valid reason to ban their entire population from everything else that has nothing to do with war. What, do you fear Russians will start attacking Ukrainian pool players at bars like a scene from Poolhall Junkies or Black Dynamite? America has given Ukraine over 50 billion in aid, and billions more since at least 2014.

Been watching the Tour de France. People from other countries get along great. Seen 7 people from 7 countries partying and having fun. Its the damn governments all they want is power and money. What a shame. Life too short. Lets all play hard win some get beat some have show respect to all.

Russians winning sports competition under neutral flag are welcome home as national heroes, Russians simply dont care about neutral flag, they create their own statistics where they state that such result was made by a russian athlete, not neutral one. As far as being antiwar it depends on how vocal athlete was and what his coverage/impact is withing russian community - they may get a simple warning to simply shut up or they may be "recommended" to appear on national TV or some cultural event where they would push the "right" propaganda. In the worst case scenario if they pi55 off the wrong person they can face up to 15 years of jail time. And lifting the ban of athletes from Russia and Belarus can bring its own issues, pool in Russia is considered regular sport and top players are sponsored by Gazprom which in turn is state-owned company trading with gas - which is (second only to oil) top commodity that fuels the war machine of Russia. So its really not black and white....

Again, your opinion would differ if you lived in Ukraine, and you family was killed, house destroyed, and daughter raped by Russian soldiers invading your country. Dont even try to tell me you wouldn't hate the guts of every Russian on the planet.... whether it was justified or not. I will flat out call you a liar.

I'm still confused about the Orcollo situation.
How so?

My take is that he had a tourist visa. It’s meant to be used a little. He used it a lot (including for “work”). He got caught abusing it and got a 5 year ban. It’s being appealed and he’s applying for some kind of an elite athlete visa. If he had that originally he would have been fine. Also it seems these days the government’s tolerance for visa abuse is diminished and their ability to detect it is increased. He’s an important figure in pool and hopefully his endeavors are successful.

I kind of find it straight forward.

I have people living on my street who had no visa when they entered the USA who who knows where. One of them went to a local school and beat the crap out of a female relative who wasn't wearing the proper head covering.

I'm confused about Orcollo being kicked out.

It's legally easier for the government to deny someone entry at the airport than it is to deport someone already here. Refusing entry at the airport takes a few minutes of time while deportation takes hours or days of work. I'll avoid commenting on the politics of these processes, except to hope that Orcollo is able to return here ASAP.

Can Orcullo sneak in across the border and still compete in events? Does WCBS ban players that bypass visa or just people from countries with sanctions?

Probably smarter for him to just get a O1 visa or the like and not have to worry about it

He got grabbed at an airport coming back in to the USA. They’ve upped their game at the ports of entry. Sounds like sounds like the local school (and perhaps local police) have not done likewise.

They were an outlier, no other sport applied the ban to worldwide pro events or US tournaments.
Formula One racing took the Russian event off of the schedule and Russian driver Mazepin was fired from the Haas team, both due to the Ukraine invasion. Russians have also been banned from Ice Skating, skiing, basketball, track, soccer and Hockey, among others.

None in the US (for the legal reasons discussed above).

Fefilova back in the box and penciled in with sharpie at the WPBA event.

That's one small step away from WWIII.
Unfortunately, WWIII is already happening, how many countries are now helping Ukraine against Russia (and Belarus)? NATO has postured up...btw, China, Syria, Iran are assisting/working with Russia too, know what that means? you guessed it, WWIII!

We are all screwed, but until then.....RACK EM'!!!!
