In all honesty I would just as soon they close all the CTE, Same Aim type threads the second they are opened in the main forum.

At this point nothing can be done to salvage a discussion on the subject and for every person that gets interested you turn someone else off to even wanting to hear another word about it.

Make a stickied CTE authority thread with the names and contact info of the instructors and if someone wants to discuss it they can friggin PM OR Confine these discussions to the the ask an instructor section...

I was slightly interested to see how close it was to my aiming system and if I could use it as a secondary check but at this point I could really give a rip....

I know I saw a thread in the ask an instructor section which basically said if you are not an instructor do not answer questions. OK fine... IF YOU ARE AN INSTRUCTOR AND TRYING TO DRUM UP STUDENTS OR YOU ARE TRYING TO BE A PROPONENT TO A SPECIFIC INSTRUCTORS SYSTEM, PLEASE POST IT IN THE ASK AN INSTRUCTOR FORUM....
 
It's true, and I empathize with you. It seems that what may be one person's cup of tea may not be an enjoyable read for another.

I wish they would eliminate avatars with women posing in vulgar sexual positions, as I find this offensive, but, hey, I am in the silent majority, I guess. :p
 
I just joined this board and I can figure out what's CB and OB but what does CTE stand for?!

Sorry for the noob question... :o
 
Now Jam you can see it's really the room owners fault... There is no mechanical bridge to be found anywhere in the picture.. I am just thankful the heels were tall enough to let her reach the shot....:ok:
 
I have to agree with Jen, your avatar is terrible.
Hey Chris, do you think you can find one with higher heels?

Well, you would have loved hanging out in the pool rooms during '70s and '80s era. When the player had a reach shot, why, they would proceed to climb up on top of the table, on all fours, with one leg usually hiked up, in order to pocket the ball.

It was quite a sight to see. :shocked2:

If you're serious: Center To Edge. Basically, aiming the center of the cue ball at the edge of the object ball.

Jam and others, you could view the forum using Mozilla Firefox browser. There is an add on that allows you to eliminate only the avatars that bother you.
It allows you to click on a post and ZAP only the offensive avatars or for that matter annoying signatures/advertising & pictures,
Any time that poster posts they are gone.
Also:deadhorse:bothersome threads or for that matter people. :ignore: and more
Plus it offers real time spell check.:groucho:

Those asking the forum to become a police state can take it upon themselves to do their own censoring to eliminate what bothers them.:idea2:
Basically you can customize the forum to your liking.

Nope I am asking that the CTE posts go into the Ask the Instructor area of the forums. It seems to me most have been started by an instructor that teaches CTE or someone who is a proponent of the systems and seems to be steering people into learning the systems. IE Taking lessons or buying videos.

The backlash comes from the the nonbelievers that see yet another CTE thread in the main forum and tear into it. The main forum is not where aiming systems should be discussed. It is a part of the realm of instruction.
By keeping the CTE threads where I honestly think they belong maybe the flame wars will stop and people interested in the system can actually read about the system instead of having to sift thru 100 posts flaming the theory.

CTE threads may still turn into flame wars but they will not be on the main forum where most new visitors will go first upon arrival. CTE and bickering is not what AZ is about and when a visitor steps into a thread where lots of people are calling names and being openly aggressive it shines the wrong light.

AZ is here for us to socialize, hear stories, find friends and share our knowledge.. It's a great group of people with lots to share. I just think that at the current level that CTE discussions are being carried out, they are leaving muddy footprints on the welcome mat.

I am actually hoping if CTE goes into the Instructor area a concise well written thread can develop.

And as far as my avatar I am pretty sure JAM was tongue in cheek and I know Bill was yanking my chain but by all means if it truly offensive I'll happily take it down. You see worse on TV commercials...
 
Neil, You are correct in pointing out that none of the CTE instructors started the last few threads, and my making it seem like the drama was all their doing by my statements requires an apology on my part. I do apologize.

I think CTE may have merit. I use a system where I aim half or full and use my ferrule and a pivot to adjust.

I would love to see a real discussion about it without all the drama

One of my favorite quotes is never argue with an idiot because he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I don't think the instructors are idiots and I don't think a lot of the non instructors are idiots but in all honesty it's hard to pick out the white hats from the black hats when they are all rolling around the street in the mud.
