European Open 2025, Sarajevo, March 11-16

Watching the rise of Labutis as a cueist has been a joy. In the past four months alone, he won bronze at the International 9ball, gold at the Derby City 10ball, and he will earn at least a bronze medal tomorrow at the European Open. He is starting to look like a superstar in the making. Given the kind of pool he has been playing, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Labutis is on Team Europe this year at the Mosconi. Europe just keeps on producing champions.
Agreed. Pijus is a champion in the making. And agree also that Europe is steadily producing a plethora of cueists that are technically very capable and sound and will probably mature into tournament winners. Through systematic and rigorous training under skillful trainers Europe will continue producing the goods. Maciol is a good example, he was still showing nerves and missing key shots a couple of years ago and now he’s already almost at champion level. Amazing development for such a young player.

Pijus is not quite there yet. Too many mistakes vs Duong, who was off his game. Labutis has been consistent, though.

Filler is playing the best I’ve ever seen. His kicking and safety game are now strengths, not weaknesses. All the bank pool and one pocket in the states has also paid off.

Only Maciol and Szewczyk have played close to his level. Szewczyk really didn’t make any mistakes tonite and he still lost 10-6.

Oi and Pijus have to play better than they did in the quarters to have a chance.

Yes, tickets are available. Also, the players each got four guest passes to the first three days.

Some of the players could hear the commentary. I think the booth is in the balcony above the streamed tables.

for a while there i thought you had got lost among the kafana coffee houses and diskotekas. how is the sarajevo pool scene?

While MR again put together a great tournament, the treatment of Filler, and other WPA players, throws a shadow especially on how MR handles their PR and social media during the European Open.
Only thing left is that they turn of the lights on the TV table during Fillers matches.

and it's gonna be weird as hell to not have him in the PLP if he wins this. he's the best 9-ball player in the world. maciol has been impressive too. this event has shown why this conflict needs to be resolved asap

This was hardly a surprise. I just would like to see what happens if Filler wins the whole thing because that would be difficult to sweep under the carpet. 🤓 I bet one of the reasons why Joshua wants to win this one really bad!

I won‘t miss Filler at all in the PLP - he’s too damn good! I want to see some competition 😁😁

WNT would not have invited the WPA players if it didn’t want them. Almost all of them are signed up for the tour.

Certain things are off limits until the dispute is resolved, though.

Here is a brief description of what it takes for Filler to maintain his 855 rating

Agreed, but his steady advance is hard to overlook. He'll have to be reckoned with for years.

Maciol has not done much wrong, the scratch in rack 2 and a missed 9.

Oi is breaking well and has built a nice lead.
