I just found my new favorite Hercek!!! I love ebony into maple, with maple and ebony veneers.........add a piloted stainless joint to it, and you're the proud owner of my absolute favorite combo!!

Gorgeous cue, sir! Wanna sell it?????? :) :)

Question ?

I was told by a Hall Of Fame cue maker that curly maple has a tendency to warp. He cores all his curly maple cues. Do you guys find this to be true? Just curious.
Purdman

You are indeed correct Big Purd. Its actually one of the least stable of the woods used in cuemaking. It does tend to want to bend a bit. This is corrected when turning it down by going slow, slow, slow. With the curly maple I take smaller passes, more passes, with more time between cuts. If done correctly it has a much greater chance of permanent straightness.;)

Thanks for pouring some salt in the wound.........

You're all heart!! :) ;)

Gorgeous cue, boss. WORTH standing in line for!! :)

Here's a picture of the second cue I ever built. The only one without points. The Curly Maple handle as well as the Cocobolo Forearm and the Cocobolo Butt Section (not Sleeved) is cored. I have some even curlier pieces, but they are still a ways from being ready to go.

Here are a couple I built. I bought this curly five years ago and have turned it about 0.050" every year. Extra curly it is.
