What a sweet old bar cue!
Nick :)

You sure don`t see many like that anymore. But I bet its still got a couple thousand more wins in it.

No offense nick....but extremely fancy?????? I don't get it, unless it was a joke. Great sp, but extremely fancy, it is not.

Easy

By the time you would have to pay for the extra shaft with the ivory ferrels and double rings in the shafts and joint and butt cap with the stacked veneers and a Schmelkie blank you probably would have came out cheaper buying a plain 4 point custom back then. It would have been close.
Because of that it is a extreemly fancy Tim Scruggs sneakie. And actually it was orders like this that soured Timi from doing sneakies.
Other builders may have built fancier sneakies but from Timi this is about as fancy sneakie excluding a ivory joint that you could get. And I have never seen a sneakie from Timi with a ivory joint. There are probably some out there but I just haven't seen one..

Tim Scruggs sneakies are always fun to look at. And even better to play with.

I don't know if I would call this one 'extremely' fancy. But either way, its a nice cue and thanks for sharing.

Nice looking sneaky there Nick and the Mace too! I have room in my cases for these cues. I thought I would let you know just in case. :D

Honest question: Why would this cue be considered a Sneaky Pete? I'd classify it as a "Player", or maybe a Sneaky Player. ;)

I never understood this as well.

I think the short answer to your question is likely that the cue was ordered as a sneaky pete but with a wrap, a buttcap, and a joint collar.

Personally, I think once the add-ons are included, be it a buttcap, a collar (and especially a wrap), its no longer a sneaky pete. Its just a plain 4 pointer with no veneers.

But obviously there are plenty who disagree.

Not to take away anything from the owner here. A friend of mine had a Scruggs sneaky with a linen wrap, a delrin buttcap, and a phenolic collar at the joint. It was an AMAZING player and I struggled for years to get it out of his hands. But he would never part with it.

I am aware of two with ivory joints. One a guy I used to play with about 10 years ago had a purpleheart with 3/8-10 ivory joint and hoppe ring, purpleheart and white dashed joint rings. Early logo, sweet cue. He probably got it off Rainbow.

A good friend of mine ordered directly from Tim a Bacote with 3/8-10 ivory joint and hoppe ring with plain black collars would have been around 1999. I remember it was 750.00 from Tim. A couple months prior to that I ordered a purpleheart with steal joint @ 350.00, we both regret letting those cues go.

nice ques regardless of the exact terminology to describe the cue it is a Tim Scruggs that has taken the sneaky pete to a new level.Richie Richards had one he used to beat a bunch of people including me,and I understand someonestold it and he was willing to pay mucho dinero to get another one.So it does seem there are a few people out there that don't mind paying high prices for basic cues that only do one thing..play great.Congratulations on another nice find

Ivory joint

I actually have a Scruggs sneaky with an Ivory flat face joint and a Ivory hoppe ring. It also has "fancy" rings around the joint. I'll post pics tomorrow when I get a chance.
