Fact or Fiction about Packages

I watched the 7 that Shane did against Scott so that's the highest I've witnessed. But, he also ran a couple of 6's and lots of 2's & 3's. He was a roll away from putting together a giant run a few times.

I've done 4 several times and recently a 5 in 8 ball on a bar box but the first rack came off an empty break from my opponent. I also had a 5 playing 9ball on a bar box but that included a 9 on the break and an early 9 ball combination. So if I can do that I'm sure the better players have gotten further than me.

I have a friend (many in Denver know him) who swears up and down that he ran 27 in a row. Lol.

Saw Larry Nevel run like a 10 at a bar table tourny. Saw Shane run like a 8 on Archer in Nashville in the bar table tourny. I personally ran a 5 out the gate in a race to 7 and broke dry, the guy runs out the set. Sucked!

I have seen Fransisco Bustamante ran a 7-pack in 10-ball against Efren Reyes in a 8-man tournament in Manila, Philippines in Feb 2007.

Busta also did that against Efren in (year?) WPC in Manila, the year Earl won. I think Busta ran a 7 or 8.

I also vaguely remember Yang Chin Shun running a bunch of packages in a WPC tourney.

Most that I have seen is 12 in an 8 ball match and 6 during a 9 ball match and 8 during practice. I was real close to the match and seen everything first hand. The guy used my break cue, playing cue... even walked in with my case.

The guy is putting in a ton of practice for turning stone and hoping the damn passport comes soon or will be real pissed.

Most i have ever done is 8 on a 9'foot gold crown. thats the most ive ever seen in person.

Have also seen 8 balls made on the break playing 9 ball.

Gawd this would cause me to unscrew right then. This would have to rank up with one of the you got to see it to believe it!

I think it simply doesn't happen much. Not nearly as much as people talk about or as much as people want it to.

It really boils down to the break and starts to turn into a break contest. But with breaking as unpredictable as it is, your luck is bound to run out sooner or later.

I have been around this game almost twenty years and have watched and played with some of the best. I always here rumors about this guy laid down an 8 pack or this guy laid down a 22 on a barbox and I just never see it.

A shortstop with a good break on a valley bar table is plenty capable of putting 5 or more racks together. Sure, they aren't going to do it every day but I don't think it's as outlandish as you think.

I see amateurs talk about running 22 racks on their home tables. I'm a bit skeptical of that, though.

I saw Durbin lay down an 11 and bust a ring game in Lexington, KY once. Then he put down a 9 or 10 playing John Brumback (IIRC) the same weekend. I have personally seen several people run 8's; Bartram, Nevel, Kirkwood, Deuel, Adkins, Putnam, McAnich. IMO, it's somewhat common amongst players that speed....

Last time I played on a barbox.....

Last time I played on a barbox, I BNR the first three racks, and then we switched to alternate breaks, of the ten racks we played I bnr every time I broke. It was a valley barbox. so six racks...

The most I've seen is seven. The most I've done is 6 on a 9' and I hardly play on a barbox so the six previously stated is it.

I watched Tommy Kennedy run 12 and it could have been more. Two back to back races to 6 in nine ball on an 8' Gandy back in the late eighties, he might of had more but i did not see the set before or after that those two.

I also watched Scotty T at the same pool hall, but on the bar tables run 11 in a row about the same time frame.

You've got action anytime you want to bet on you getting 5 in a row again. J/K George, and ssssh ... you're killing your action.

Have also seen 8 balls made on the break playing 9 ball.

I broke in 7 once and hung up another. The only balls left were the cueball, the 3, and the 9. The cueball was left nearly in the pocket almost frozen to the 9. Needless to say I broke in 7 with the 8th hanging and still lost the game.

The best break I've had was playing bartable eightball....

6 stripes and nothing else...

Our own Bob Vanover ran the last two racks of one set and the next nine and out of the next set. Texas State Championships, 100's of witnesses. I believe that 9-pack was against "Lizard".

Bob is 77 and still plays with the best........SPF=randyg

Mid 90's- I saw a guy run the first 8 going to nine against Steve McCannich(sp?) and miss a makeable 7 for the set in a McDermott tour stop in Champaign, Il.. He told me that not long after that at a bar table tourney at the Break in Cahokia, Il he did the same thing and dogged the 3 ball for the set. Also, IIRC, Jesse B. said he ran a 11 or 13 on a valley bar table giving Tony Fargo the 7. He lost the set anyways though. He was like 7 behind in a 10 ahead set at the time of the run. That's the best I know of personally.

Ralf Souquet has run 27 consecutive racks in 8 ball. Ralf has also ran 13 cons. racks of 9 ball.

Alot has to go right for this to happen. Pretty damn disciplined to not get bored out of your mind here and keep playing 8ball that long.
