Famous 3-Cushion world record run.

Wasn't that the Sang Lee tournament at which Semih ran 20?

I was there - saw the best billiards of my life, including yours.

It was a 'Carom Corner' event. SS did run 20 against Mike Kang of NYC.

When I beat Semih in the finals He was so mad He wouldn't shake my hand after the game!

I won, 43-42 in 39 innings. He went to 50, along with Ceulemans, Jaspers and Sang Lee, the rest of the field against them went to 43.
When the field played each other we all went to 40 points. The Only player in the 'Field' that went to 50 against the seated players was Caudron.

A little side note. I know the feeling of just missing a possible matching/record-breaking point in 3C.

In 1983 I played in an event at, 'State & Madison Billiards' in Rockford, IL. On Saturday evening my mentor, Ernie Presto and I played a 50-point Exhibition game in 28 innings. In that game I ran 24, the 25th point was a fairly easy 5 cushion Natural, which I missed by a couple mm's. At that time the 'High Run' in 3C was 25 by Willie Hoppe.

The Finals were on Sunday, 8-man round robin. I went 7-0 and the scores against 6 opponents were all the same, 40-16, except for Walt Harris He got to 20.

What did You find humorous/funny about the enthusiasm of the spectators?

Just curious how You came to that conclusion.
I came to that conclusion because they are on the edge of their seat with excitement. It reminds me of the 2004 World Series.

Remember I mentioned Sayginer didn't take the loss to me in the Finals very well.

In this match against Sang Lee, the winner plays Dick Jaspers for the Title.

SS scores a point to put in in the 1 hole at 49, SL needs 3, He makes a very nice 'Umbrella' to run 3 & out! Leaving SS in his seat.

Make sure you watch this video to the end, to see how Sayginer accepts this loss.

Chris's billiards? I think so.

Maybe not on second look.

Yeah, definitely not on third look. Chris's has round beams that flair out. Same chairs though.

Out of curiosity I tried to predict his shots during the run. I paused it before each shot for no more than 10 seconds. I guessed 16 shots correctly. So 16 out of 29. Not bad for a pool player.

One thing about this run that jumped out at me and I don't really understand the game that well, but it seems like he never really had the balls under control. This run looked really difficult as he never managed to get a ball close to a corner where he could then get several scores. Maybe I'm clueless. I'd be interested to know if I'm way off base.

***Referring to Caudron's run here***

Sang started from a Very 'Defensive' position! He made a Very good shot. It's hard to judge the outcome of the 3 balls after such a starting shot.

LOL! I'm 'Old' but not that old. Actually, that man is Gene Dobbs a 3C player. In that video, He was about maybe between 80-85.
I am glad you had someone to share stories about the beginning of the Industrial Revolution with.

What state was this room in? Chris’ Billiards?
