Fatboy Invitational

Okay, here we go! Stevie Moore is in! And Ralf Souquet is in! That leaves one spot for Efren, who may or may not be coming. It appears at this time that Bustamante is coming for sure, so we will tentatively give him the final spot, unless Efren comes. If that's the case the spot will go to him instead. About as fair as I could be.

Take a look at post #1. We now have our field for the 2011 Fatboy Challenge, the strongest field ever! I also just got word from Pat Fleming that Accu-Stats would be featuring one match per round in the Accu-Stats arena! Good news for all those unable to attend.

Congrats to both you and Eric for your obviously successful efforts.

Since the event appears to be in high demand, is there any consideration of increasing the field to 32 players next year?

Awesome Jay. Can't make it to DCC so it will be great to be able to watch it.

Thanks,

Russ....

The Midnight play of the Fatboy Invitational adds another dimension to the Derby City Classic.

I will be sure to get a seat next to SJM. He has the worst luck betting on matches with me. :D Oh wait, I haven't made any reservations yet, nor have I told the wife. :embarrassed2:

Dear Joey,

2 undebatable truths that apply to pool:
1. A large pizza does not feed a family of 4.
B. It is easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask permission.

Good luck with that.

It's the DOG HOUSE for me!

I missed number two but I agree with B. That is some sage wisdom there.

From experience, I can only add to B:

3: If you didn't ask permission and you are now begging forgiveness, it will normally be met with a cold, icy stare or the woman-scorned song and dance. Better just to sit alone, quietly in the dog house, reminiscing upon the good times had, and ordering take-out from the local restaurants.

Great idea Nathan. Greg and I have already discussed this as a possibility for next year. It would add another 8K to the purse, and we could pay the final eight players. It won't happen this year but next year is possible. It would mean adding one extra day to the event.

By the way Rafael just got in as our first alternate. Players must pay their entry fee by Jan. 22 or risk losing their spot. I will take the names of the first four alternates.

You forgot an option. Kick the old lady to the curb, get a younger/sexier model and do whatever you want to do.

Forgot to add: this is only my opinion and may not work for everyone!!!

glad to help, i sincerly hope you do well in it.

if greg wants to go up to 32 players we might, but probably not at the current location, its too small. Were gonna do it again next year-i dont know all the details yet, I want to thank Greg for stepping up. I look at it like this, I'm creating a brand "Fatboy" what I do with that I have no clue, I'm not ever going to use it as a for profit brand, as far as I can tell. I hope to be able to do something with it and roll the $$$ the brand generates back into pool.

I'm lucky that Greg lets me do a event within his event, he dosent have to let me do it and use my name-he is a very stand up guy for letting me do that the past 2 years.

So depending on what happens over the next few years in my personal life will have a impact on "Fatboy" the brand. Eric will awalys be the same guy.

happy new years!!!

Eric

You're in with the big dogs now Bartram! GGGGGGGRRRRRRRFFFFFFF!!!!

Jay, you know we always put the "pixie" in something every year (last year he wanted to use someone else's money cause he wasn't playing much at the time (he's good like that) so thats why we had the confusion) but he can't beat this Ohio kid playing ANYTHING right now.

This year we figured we'll just watch on the side and if he's there we'll snap him off because he's a sucker now. Chris might be able to give him the 5 playing 6 ball.

If anyone has a problem with the entry let us know.

i dont understand your post?

This field has star power, that's all I can say. Young Mr. Engel better be ready for this one. It's his chance to show the pool world that he's an emerging star. My opinion is that if he gets by one match he's done well. If he makes the money, Then he will have definitely ARRIVED!

I'd like to handicap the whole field, but it's impossible here. Too many favorites who can win. It's who gets hot, breaks good and plays good all the way through. I like Shane first and then Johnny and Dennis. That said, any one of these three could lose in the first round. That's how tough this field is!

How tough is this field? I could take Appleton, Ralph, and Bustamente and feel they are pretty much an even bet against your top 3 picks.

And then you have Rodney and Neils who are both killers themselves still in the ranks...

Tough tournament, no doubt. But still an amazingly good bet given the added money and small field. If you have a the skills to win any given match even as a flip of a coin that is a 100 times better bet then you will ever get in Vegas.

Ever the gambler, aren't you Chris? I can't really bet on this one since I'm running it and making calls. I will bet you a dinner though at the buffet. Pick three!
Remember Francisco is not confirmed 100%. He could be replaced by Efren if he decides to come.
