Favorite cue tip?

I'm a milk dud kind of guy, through and through! Elk master, soaked in heavy cream over night, pressed for 24 hours, ,and install. Right after install, I break with it about 30-50 times. (Or just hit balls at break speed.) Beat it down real good. If it mushrooms, trim it back, then it's good!!!

Break, jump, and play with mine. I poke the tip as needed about once a week or every other depending how much I play.

I don't believe in layered tips. I rip them up too fast. I've tried about 8-10 different layered tips, and can't get one to hold up about half as long as a milkdud. I've tried breaking them in similar to the above process, and not at all, and somewhere in between. just don't seem to hold up to my style of play.

All the best,

Justin

I played with a Le Pro just about all my life. Tried many other tips. Mainly based on hype. I even tried super soft tips. Now I will only use Le Pro. Never misscue and get plenty of english. What I don't understand is if it has been proven that a hard tip is the best tip for accuracy. Why do so many people go to soft tips? Is it feel over accuracy for them?

Been using Tiger Hard Layered for ever. Last a long time, works well when chalked properly. NO TIP IMHO is Magic, skillful players make any tip MAGIC. IMHO.

These are definitely the best milk duds and the best tip when you break it in.

I just ordered three tips from POOLDAWG8, will review them after I get one put on my player...I'm on my second Kamui Black Soft, each one lasted about a year, best tip I've ever used. Since I'm overdue to replace my tip, I'll give these milk duds a shot...always loved milk duds, I have one on my second shaft and it plays REALLY well...don't know who made it, though; my old maintenance guy passed away several years ago, and I think he made them in his shop--no one knows for sure.

They do not generate as much english and grabs the cue ball as much as soft tips do.

Whats everyone's favorite tip? Here is my experience.
lepro- my overall favorite. only drawback is that it mushrooms easily.
elkmaster- never miss cued with one when using a bar stick.
triump-and triangle- plays in between a lepro and moori. to me.
moori- loved the first generation moori's. now they seem to miss cue more often.
kumui black- loved it for the first couple weeks then started miss cueing alot.
kumui tan- been using it currently. I like it but still in the back of my mind Im afraid of it miss cueing.
milk dud- been wanting to try one. but it sounds like everyone makes them a little different. not sure whos the best over all. most consistent.

I havent played much these last 2 years. so I have not tryed any newer kumui's. I just noticed that I need to scuff my tan kumui up often to keep from miss cueing.

whats your favorite?

What is a "milk dud". I use Kamui tans, I cant complain about them except maybe they seem to get pretty hard after a while. Even after scuffing and shaping they seem to glaze quickly after I have about 6 months playing time on them.

after reading all the posts. I think I'm going to put on a g2. Although the ultra skin and black heart sound pretty close to what I'm looking for.
The last tip I'm going to put on is the pool dawg8 milk dud. Because after I put the milk dud on I really don't think I will ever try another tip again.

A milk dud is a single layer tip (usually a soft Elkmaster or other inexpensive porous tip) soaked for days in a milk-based solution (milk, buttermilk, heavy cream, etc. mixed with other possible ingredients), then pressed in a vise or tip press for a day or two. The process varies from maker to maker, kind of a trade secret. Grips like a soft tip, but hits like a firm medium tip. They tend to last a long time. Filipino players were famous for using them, and many think they invented the process...but milk duds have been around a LONG time. There are good ones and bad ones, but I've personally never seen a bad one. Most folks that make them care enough to get the process right. Not easy to find, a lot of guys make their own...I'm not smart enough to, so I gotta hunt them down.

Played with a Kamui forever and recently switched to a G2. I absolutely love the G2! I am very very happy with the way the tip plays all around.

Cue Tip of the Day.

Don't smoke while you're huffing gasoline. You'll end up being on Fire like Richard Pryor.

So after experimenting with the Ultraskin tips, I changed to a soft Kamui clear tip, this is my first clear tip and I'm not really that impressed. I have had Kamui medium on several shafts before and never really been blown away...
So i changed to a Zan soft tip and that's a great tip, quite possibly the best i have tried. i have yet to try G2 and Blackheart.
