I come from a military family myself. My dad was a major in the Army Air Corps in World War II, which later became the U.S. Air Force. Back then, the Air Force and Army were lumped together. The benefits were very good for a military man in those days. I enjoyed free medical care until I was 18 years of age at Walter Reed Hospital, and after my father passed away, my mom was given full benefits as a surviving spouse. I still have my dad's medals, uniforms, and Army green metal trunk with his military number and name on it. Both of them are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. If you ever come to D.C., I know it sounds strange to say go visit a cemetery, but this is one place which is a tourist attraction, full of history: JFK's grave with the eternal flame, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and many other interesting sights to see.
On topic of the thread, my favorite female player is Julie Kelly because of her cheerful disposition, her Irish brogue, and dedication to the game/sport in the States. She sacrificed a lot when she made the decision to leave her native country of Ireland and pursue a professional career of playing pool in America. She's got better killer instinct than most when she's competing, but Julie is an absolute joy to be around on the offs. Plus, I love those smiling Irish eyes of hers.
As far as my favorite male player -- aside from Keith, of course

-- it's a draw between Earl "The Pearl" Strickland and Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich.
