Favoritism in pool tournaments

Listen guys, I' m not the kind of guy that's afraid of things like this but you need to have some control on exposing people and getting them hurt. If neccessary it will come at the right time.

And c'mon guys read between the lines.... You mean to tell me you dont know which states are included in the Tri-state tour.....PLEASE

Hey we are from all over the world on this site, so unless you say what area you are talking about , we are all lost. At least name the states, and I just don't see the big deal of not saying what you mean, and mean what you say !!!<<,

The main AZBilliards page links to tournaments and then to tours. One of the tours listed is called the "Tri State Tour." The three states with listed events are New York and New Jersey. (Maybe someone can't count or PA fell out.)

Very good you did a bit of research. The only smart one yet.

Well I dont know about that, maybe Im just the only one with too much time on my hands :grin-square:

Looking at the player of the year standings, you seem to have a couple people in the D class and maybe the B class that has a lot more points than anyone else. Its hard to tell because of the different amount of tourneys played. But if you figure points per event played you can see who stands out in their class.

Am I close or way off base?

Woody, what's up brother...Let me explain a lil. I'm fron NJ, born and raised in the South Bronx and have been playing on this tour sinse I wuz 18. I think it's a great local tour for beginners, and intermidiate players. Now, is all the handicaps ligit, fuc no, and probally will never be. But for the most part, it's good for the weekend players IMO. If it was not for the TRI_STATE_TOUR these up and coming players would have to play in "OPEN" tours like: Tony Robles Predator Tour, Jose Burgos Blaze 9-Ball tour, ect. These are tours that are "OPEN" and lets face it, lots of these tri-state shooters have lil chance to win with myself included LOL. Everyone is so damn quick to bash things, I dont understand. If they, THE TRI STATE TOUR, wuz to pack up 2-morrow I bet the same people complaining are that same one's that will cry bout having no handicap tours for beginners..........Reminder, just my opinion.

Thanx for reading, Frankie

Whats up Frankie,,, I understand. Anytime you have handicap this or that there will always be problems. Its just the nature of the beast so to speak. That being said I wish we had something like the tristatetour in my neck of the woods!

Handicapping seems to be a necessary evil. Once you get some stand out players in an area seems like you wont get many players to show up unless you give them some weight. Although I went and played, well, I was there I wouldnt call what I did playing LOL, anyway played at an event today that had several STRONG players. Even got to sweat a couple Chris Bartram matches! Just wish I would have drawn him :) Did get to play Sarah though, that was a treat even if she did put me out.

I just want to say something to all of you who have been participating in this bull****! How do you people go to bed at night and look at yourselves in the mirror knowing you receive all this favoritism? I am not quite sure whether to name people at least at this time unless someone gets me pissed, but when I play in these tournaments I visualize these certain players wearing nothing but a large pair of diapers!

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves!

Welcome to the forums!

If it makes you feel better I will be ashamed of myself. Should I be extremely ashamed or just moderately ashamed?

i grew up in the tri-state area considered NY, NJ and CT. never really heard my family from PA put themselves in the mix with us, more with OH. but as i have moved around the country i have found more than a few areas that call them selves "the tri-state" area. basically any three states that share people who live and work in one or another and travel frequently between their borders will use the term. as far as a tri-state tour i hadn't heard of it until this thread.

Glad I'm not the only one. Stand by for a condescending response.

Favoritism?

Hell, I can give you 100's of examples.

Here's one. WPBA.

Imagine, if you will you have the top women players and they are seeded. Ever wonder why you seen the same players over and over? If you were woman player and wanted to make it to finals, lots of luck. First you have to beat the entire field, and they top women players have a few byes, just to help them along.

"Cool Cat" Martin told me when he won the 14-1 tournaments, they werent seeded and they also were round robins, so if you won, you damn well knew you were the best player there, not some guy that got into an easy bracket, or easy draws. You played every player in it. Practical, probably not, but sure makes a guy think.

thats fine for you but most people refer to the nj,ny, ct area period. Obviously you didn't do a simple search'

I guess it never occurred to you that search engines use previous search criteria, cookies and available location data when returning search results. What might be page 1 for you will certainly be much further down the list for someone living in Canada, Europe, Dubai, or the west coast USA, all of which are represented here.

Where I live there is the "Tri State Mall" tri state being PA NJ and DE.

This has been a problem for years now, all handicaped tourny's. Not just the tri-state tour, or Shannons tour(example only). That $hit is never gonna change. There always be favorites, unfortunately.
I feel like this....Don't like it, don't play. Pretty cut & dry.

Frankie

+1 on that.

I get motivated to play the favorites and try to be a spoiler. I personally don't give a damn who I am playing.
Once you pay your entry just play your game. I get more irritated hearing people cry after they pay their entry fee even though they knew that there were favorites at the tournament before they paid.
