Fear that John Schmidt might need...

A ball marker like the ones they use for Snooker.

I think he needs one for when he is cleaning balls so that h Iuri s runs have even less controversy.

If he had run over 526 balls I'm sure it would go against him in the record books regardless true accomplishment it would/will be.

I mean no disrespect but fear it would question the "authenticity" of the run.

Better yet hire Michaela Tabb to rack and "clean" the balls:)
She could sell numerous pairs of those white gloves from officiating:wink:

Better safe than sorry, but, barring the egregious, I'd think any video would carry more clout than all that ancient word of mouth.

A picture is still worth a thousand words.

I disagree because I'd be lunch at my favorite pool hall Mosconi didn't use a snooker style marker during his 526.

I love those ball markers. I personally don't think it matters what John does. You could stick him in a time machine, send him back to the same table Willie played on, give him the same cue Willie used, and people would still make up reasons why Willie's run was better.

Not only that...Willie was a better dancer..his father wanted him to go pro.

Al, you must've done a lotta KP when you were in the military...:)

Truth right here.

The "ball cleaning", "faster cloth", ..... etc....etc... depending on whom your talking with can become extremely stupid.

To me, it's like the carbon fiber cue vs wooden cue debates: it shouldn't matter cause if you can't get there without cleaning balls,...... LOL....... your not getting there "just because" you clean the CB or even OB's for that matter.

You either got it..... or not. All this well, he does this or he didn't do that chit is just "one more" thing for all the drama QUEENS to add to their already extremely busy schedule of negative bullchit.

I practice 14.1 and I've made my own markers. Just buy a 2-inch washer with a 1/2-inch hole in the center, cut it in half and sand the sharp edges from the cut and you'll have two ball markers. Just place it on the cloth and slide it with your fingertip until it touches the base of the cue ball then return to the same spot when you're done - very accurate.

I used some scrap lexan plastic I had laying around. 2" circles cut into a pac-man shape. Works great.

Why do you all slam John for his tries....why
Lets stand behind the only guy that tries....
I am so glad he is trying,, for all that try to create negative comments to this...
How many balls have you run?
Sorry had to release,
Calibration

I think you should re- read the threads on John....you say ALL...
...if Schmidty was running for election on AZ, he'd win by a landslide.

Hey PT, hope all is well with you Sir.

Your correct, John would win pretty much ANY election on AZB. But, unfortunately.... there are a few people that try to for a lack of a better word..... downgrade his runs by saying the cloth, balls, cue, lighting.... hell, I've heard one a55hat mention climate change lol....

If everyone was like you, this place would suck. Why? Lol.... your always right, there wouldn't be anything to discuss ir better yet, argue abiut:grin-square:

<<<<<<<<<<< is a PT fan!

Hmmmm. Now what would a man do with a white glove that Michaela Tabb had HER hand in???:o:rolleyes:

Maniac (wondering if Mosconi cleaned balls during his 526 ball run)

To be clear, I wasn't saying cleaning the balls was wrong or bad. I was only saying that since the topic of beating The Godfather Of Straight Pool record is "So Controversial" (for some), best give the least amount of weight to their argument.

John used chalk to make where the balls were and put t h emotions b back in the same place which is good enough to me. But I could see my friend saying that it wasn't in the same "exact" place. So the run wasn't valid (actually based on a discussion we had).

I'll take the video any day... There's literally no telling what may have happened during Mosconi's run that people had given no thought to at the time.

It was just another routine exhibition for the first hundred or two balls, and then, I imagine, it progressed in seriousness in stages.

IMO using a piece of chalk is just fine. Line up a corner of the chalk with the center of the ball and some external point. Extremely accurate.

People seem hell bent on poking holes in any attempt. If it's not this they'll think of some other reason why the eventual winning run is not as good as Willie's.
