Fedor Departs CueTec...?

Didn't take long before someone had to say that.
Never fails.
There is a good chance that a person who takes the ‘Indian‘ side of the Indian vs arrow side of the argument is missing the
finer points of the game. If they don’t recognize a superior hit, that is a failure of theirs.

Lee Trevino, early in his career, had a friend insist that he try a specific type of putter. He putted for a while, went into the pro shop and bought one. Back at the motel room, he raised it over his head and smacked the heel of the club on the carpet.
……It changed the pitch slightly. He went on a win streak and ended in the hall of fame.

I have a friend who won a title at snooker….he immediately signed a cue contract…didn’t win a match for almost a year.

Joshua Filler was playing with a Z-shaft…he went on a losing streak when he got switched to CF.

Back in my road days, a man asked me for the 8-ball….he had a Buska with an after-market 14 mm shaft..
….I figured he needed the 6-7-8 with that thing….I was right.

Didn't JFlowers just come out with a new CF shaft they claim is the latest and greatest?
They have the BRKR break cue and a jumpy.
Anyone rolling out a decent playing cue should want someone like Fedor to be clubbing the competition with their product.
As others have mentioned, it's probably down to the sponsorship budget.
He must have already been hitting with the unnamed cue prior to agreeing to switch bats right now.
Just ask Filler. It takes time to adjust to new equipment at that level.

I loved the hit & feedback of my Josey when I played. Stopped after disappointing eye surgery. In other words, I do know that a good cue can add to your game. Not to the degree of a Camry vs. a Porsche RS over a road course, but there is an improvement.

So, guess what I meant is that although Fedor could beat most of us using a "Jackpot" cue, He's probably has found a sponsor who makes a cue that fits his style. Therefore, he will still be a winner without using a Cuetec. Hell, for all I know, his game might even improve, although that's difficult for me to comprehend. It will take some time for him to adjust, but probably not a long time. The pros are great at making adjustments as conditions change.

(edit) Buying whatever cue Fedor plays with will not let you play like Fedor...

A few years ago the US Mosconi Cup team was asked this question and all but one said "milk dud".
I wish I had saved that snippet for future reference. I will not be sifting through all the MC videos to find it again.
It's funny a world champ cares less about his tip than bangers like us.

Cause it was popular back then ... None of that crap matters do what works for you ... Hell if shoe leather hits good to you ... Use shoe leather

I don't think it will be Predator. I feel Predator has a large roster of players, and he would just be "another player". Cuetec had Earl, Allison, Shane, and Fedor. The best of the best of the best. Maybe it will even be a new brand? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me to leave Cuetec at all.

My guess is what others in the thread have mentioned. I have no inside info. Escalade/ Cue and Case/ Lucasi. Peri made some sense. But Lucasi signed Oscar a while back.

If Lucasi can get a modern performance cue in the hands of Fedor they can sell it I bet. I don’t know if there will be a Brunswick tie in, but if they had corporate plans Fedor’s profile could help. So a new line of carbon fiber shaft performance cues with new break and jump cues could really work. Just a guess tho.

That would be a new twist. Brunswick back in the game they abandoned 25 years ago. I like it.

I think a company like Mezz would make a lot of sense. They have a solid financial backing, a lot of products Fedor could choose from.

any company would be lucky to have such a great ambassador and he will do wonders in sales for whoever signs him.

Well, first it's got to be a pretty junky barrel, to drive such a star from his current sponsor. So talk about a big investment, which company can afford that. And next, Fedor has got to have a liking to the product. The worst thing is changing the cue and start missing every other shot after that.
(Also I remember Fedor swearing by his Propel jumper. Needs at least as good a short stick to stay one of two or three jumping monsters out there)

It was either John Schmidt or Rodney Morris (I stick with the former) saying that the worst thing a player could do is changing his trusted playing equipment. Got him a while to find his game back after the switch he made back then.

I'll make a wild guess there could be a special new brand, like Gorst Cues. What if Fedor found a manufacturer who'd be producing such, keeping secret on the actual facility/brand behind that.

i thought about that to. he wouldn't be the first - varner, archer etc. ko jump cues is probably the most recent such venture. i think they are made by fury but not sure.

Different players are different with equipment. Some can change easier than others. Some have been hurt with an equipment swap. But if there’s a shaft he likes I bet he could adjust in short order. Maybe not. I am not saying this happened, but with a cf shaft how hard is it to test an unmarked prototype on his current player? If only at home not a tournament.

Some speculate at least one prominent golfer had super high quality forged irons from a small outfit in Japan that carried different markings. Dunno. So your idea of a contract manufacturer could be right. But in that case who could really start the brand? One of the bigger groups that already brands cues IMO.
