Fedor Departs CueTec...?

Fedor got some exposure being on the Rogan podcast but what would Nike have to gain by sponsoring Fedor? Nothing really. The whole reason a company sponsors a player, is to get exposure/advertising in hopes of selling product. That's it. What specific sales would Nike get from sponsoring Fedor? Probably nothing. I would think energy drinks would have a better chance since that is something pool players would buy.
I donno... a comfy shoe is better than a redbull, any day! Well, to me anyway.

As well as Fedor handles himself and with some of the connections he has made, he should request an introductory meeting with some big dogs outside of pool. Shoot for the stars, get Rogan on the line and see if he can set up a meeting with Nike. Or possibly someone in the golf world.

Someone has to be first. The game is on the verge of exploding globally. The big boys should at least be curious.
I always thought the breakout would be someone like Sky getting sponsored by Busch Lite or something similar. Seems like he'd be very appealing to that demographic. Funny, charming Southern dude that plays his speed!

Does anyone know why Mcdermott doesn't sponsor pros? Or if they do, they don't get a lot of publicity from it. It seems like they do pretty good volume. Even a smaller shop like Pechauer have a whole page on their website of sponsored players, but no really high profile pros.

Just curious as they are two of my favorite manufacturers.

McDermott geared more to league players? Just a guess...
Shoot, in my area, there are more FR 400 players with Revo's and BK Rush's than any other cue...with Meucci a close second. Can't run 2 balls, but they got the latest and greatest shaft, screw in extension for 7 ft. table, kamui tip, carrying TAOM chalk, and their Molinari glove, their Hustlin' T shirt, flat billed trucker cap, and blue jeans with weird designs on the back pockets. THESE are the companies marketing to league players.
They never have been a big player sponsor as far as i can recall. They sponsored events/tours but not many players.
Maybe Fedor could be the first?:giggle:

It won't be McDermott. My guess is Predator or Peri.

I don't blame him because when you go to their website the only player they hot link SVB. You have to click "News" to see any secondary sponsored players. Fedor needs to be the premiere sponsored player for which ever line he goes with.

As someone who is sponsored by McDermott, I can shed some "insider knowledge", as least from my perspective. In my opinion, they don't need to. They move a lot of product each year without having to pay someone a lot of money to shoot with their product. Now I don't know what Shane gets from Cuetec or what Shaw gets from Peri, but my guess is those numbers are not small. What is the real ROI on that? Obviously that is something no one here knows. I know from what I am given and just the product that I move myself (not product that people buy that I don't know about) I am a good investment. Besides, Pros come and go from company to company. You mentioned Pechauer. Allison was with Pechauer for a while and now she is with Mezz. Did whatever she got from Pechauer really make Pechauer money? Obviously that is a rhetorical question. The biggest name in regular pool that McDermott has is Sam Henderson, and that kid has a bright future.

I don't think it will be Predator. I feel Predator has a large roster of players, and he would just be "another player". Cuetec had Earl, Allison, Shane, and Fedor. The best of the best of the best. Maybe it will even be a new brand? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me to leave Cuetec at all.
I partly disagree. SVB is the premiere player at Cuetec. Fedor deserves to be a premiere player somewhere else.

Thanks for the insider info. Very cool. It would be interesting to compare number of units sold per year between the major manufacturers. I imagine McD and Meucci would be near the top due to longevity in the business. I imagine predator would be there due to marketing and slapping that cat on any and everything...

On a different note, guy I work with used to be on the trick shot circuit. He has some of the best stories about Mizerak, Mike Massey, and others from back in the day.

I don't know if total units sold is available to the public.

Who is the guy you know? You can DM me if you want. I would love to hear some of the stories. I am good friends with Mike Massey now and even Steve Mizerak's son. I bet your friend has some good stories.

Super nice guy. Quit playing for years, but now starting to get back into it...

Nice video. All of those are competition shots. He did a great job with them. If he ever wants to compete again, he can reach out to me if he wants. Thanks for sharing.

Both good points.

I think there will be a player that crosses over into more mainstream sponsorships at some point. A company with a global perspective will recognize this sooner or later.

Surprised it hasn't happened yet. I think at this point it is more on the players to make the right moves and contact the major brands. Unfortunately most or all of the big players do not have higher education and don't have the knowledge of how to do it. They also don't have the money to be able to afford to hire an agent that would have that knowledge. Golfers have all kinds of sponsors that are outside the golf industry. Go get Caesers or Aria to sponsor you. Reach out to pro golfers to see how they do it. Pool can do the same thing but just needs to right player and for the game to continue to grow.

As far as Fedor and his equipment sponsor, I hope he realizes how important it is to have good equipment and to not sell out to a company that is inferior. Don't be the Tiger Woods of golf and commit to playing Nike golf clubs and struggle because of it.

I’m curious about this. Nike is big into apparel. A Nike swoosh, on the inside of the left cuff, would show up big. One of the Polish players, in this last tournament, had a logo there. When the camera zoomed in, to show him down on a shot, it was very apparent.

They could tap into a whole new market, shoes and apparel, gloves etc. And not just for pool and snooker, think similar sports where you need good shoes that helps with stability. Nike and other brands have designed tech that improves a lot of sports, I don't see why they couldn't in sport like pool, dart, shuffleboard, frisbeegolf and more.
