So Fedor Gorst is the big winner at the derby. And well deserved too. One heck of a player.

The thing I'm confused about has to do with his country and his sponsors. I don't see anything online about where he lives presently or what his citizenship may be but... According to wikipedia, he was born in Moscow and is a "Russian professional pool player". I see that he has several sponsors in the pool business and he wears their logos on his jersey.

So if he is in fact a citizen of Russia, a communist country, is he allowed to have commercial (in other words capitalistic) sponsors? Hmmm... how does that work?
 
Russia has not been a Communist country since the collapse of the Soviet Union, some 30 years ago. However, there is a Communist political party presence in Russia, called the "Communist Party of the Russian Federation". It is the second largest political party in Russia.

We spoke to another Russian pool player recently on Skype, Evgeny Stalev, and we spoke ab out Fedor. In fact, he brought it up in the conversation. Evgeny is proud of Fedor Gorst's accomplishments. Russia has pride in their thoroughbreds too, just like we Americans do with Shane. ;)
 
i'm gonna ignore the political bs and the obvious trolling OP. i recommend listening to the latest cue it up podcast where they mentioned how SVB saw the potential in fedor early on and told cuetec to "get this guy". pretty cool. cuetec don't have many top players but the ones they have are extraordinary.

WTF??? Russia is not a communist country. Friend of friend is in the oil/gas biz. Goes there quite a bit. Says its like going to Houston only colder. More Bentley's and Bugattis than you can believe. Wide open capitalism in action. He said few if any bitch about strongman BadVlad since anyone with half a brain is getting rich.

He said Baku was even better. Said it was a cross between an oil boomtown and MiamiVice. Said it wasn't uncommon for these Euro oil tycoons to blow 50,000 in a strip joint. Armored Humvee was the standard ride and everybody was packin, often full-auto shit. Nuts.
