You can never count Alex out, but I think this is tough action. Fedor will execute the offense far more effectively than Alex, so this match will come down to whether Alex can slow him down enough with his magnificent moves game.

My sense of things is that Fedor is a clear favorite in this spot.

I knew Alex was he was an up-and-comer. During those times I made the mistake of betting against him (2 or 3 times) when I sure he was the underdog against a well-known, established pro. I lost all those bets and the matches weren't even close. After my last loss, I promised myself I'll stop betting against him.
A cut hand learns best. Cut 3x more and it learns better!

Go, Alex!

I've never understand the "moves" game at the highest levels. When Corey tried such things in the past it didn't make sense to me either. The math just doesn't add up. I know Alex won the previous match but I really have no idea how. What's a reasonable advantage to give to Alex in a 10 ball rack where he sort of safe breaks? 60 percent would be very high if you ask me. In exchange, he gives up any chance of stringing racks together, while his opponent can. Lower his percentage down to 55% and it becomes a strategy only for those who are mathematically challenged.

Pretty sure there's a SVB vs Corey match that points out the futility of this strategy. Corey attempted to grind out racks but of course couldn't win all the safety battles, then SVB would just break and run, and string racks together.

I don't even know if Alex is employing this tactic, but I know there was talk about it leading up to this match.

Those that think Alex's board play is way better and he should win, then think about this. Who won the one pkt at DCC?
Short sets. There are very few who would want to play Alex a race to 30+ at 1p...getting a ball.

IMO, the thing about 9 or 10b is that it is just not that hard for these guys. Winning a game coz you chose to shoot a flyer that is a lock safe or by executing some other purely intentional power move doesn't happen in most games, but alex might have the chance to pull one off in 10%(?) of games.

Of course when you get manhandled that 10% doesn't help all that much...ow.

Go, Alex!

Fedor will let him hang around. You don't wanna blow your opponent outta the water lol. Nobody will want action with Gorst if he beats him 75 to 45.
