Fedor vs SVB score

I think the difference here all boils down to style of play. Gorst is so perfectly mechanical that it NEVER looks like he's free-wheeling. For a player like him, sets are the way to go. The sets give him a chance to reset. Filler, Shaw, Orcullo, and even SVB get closer to mindless, free-wheeling pool, so long sets play to their style. The difference can sort of be seen as -- Gorst attacks every shot as if it's for the World Championship, while those other players can shoot every shot as if it's a hanger. Even if it's only a slight difference in overall performance, it can be the deciding difference, and I think it was in this match.

Can someone get this smiling_Hans character off this thread. I get that you have a beef or something with SVB but your stick is tiring, old and frankly adds nothing here. Go home. I have enjoyed this thread immensely ... thank you all for the updates. What an epic match and kudos to SVB and Fedor for entertaining us all with that. Best of the best.

If you have a style, you become a prisoner to your style.

I feel like they should start these matches around 3-4 local time. Starting at 6 EST I feel like most of my friends on the east coast miss out on a big chuck of the $40 to buy the match and have to watch the replay.

if you start at 4 every day and only play to 30 over 4 days then I feel like it wouldn’t be such an energy drain for the spectators or the players.
Unfortunately bar/gambling culture wins out in these matches. Normal people aren't up until 3am to 5am on every night on the weekend. In 90% of these it appears to me that they end up being decided by chemical warfare, may the best cheater win.

Shane really gutted it out, what a match for him. This is a real notch on his gun belt. Gorst is as tough as they come, Shane should be proud of himself. He is his generations undisputed king of winner breaks.
I agree but Shane was sloppy the first few hours played bad. Once he got his score to around 95 he finally settled down and played really good.

I know its easy to say you knew Shane would win. IMO, I thought Gorst was a slight favorite, not much but maybe a 5-10 game favorite. Shane really proved again he not only had the skills, but the heart of champion.

I was proud of Shane.

They said the line was Gorst -5.

Stats don't lie.
Shane made more successful breaks.
Statistics tell us from the score that the players are so close to equal that this match says little. In a race to 120 between equal players the expected difference at the end is expected to be over 10 about half the time and over 20 about 20% of the time.
