Ferall length

Shorter ferrules weigh less than longer ferrules and the decrease of weight at the end of the cue reduces deflection.

What all of you cue makers fail to realize is not all players want reduced deflection. Deflection, when understood is useful & your friend.

I use 1" linen based Micarta ferrules. Long, hard as a rock, heavy, big deflection & will never change. I love deflection, to each his own.

Well, a shorter ferrule does not eliminate cue ball squirt.
If we all really wanted to reduce that by a lot , we'd be all drilling holes at the front end of the shafts.
Then we'd be busy repairing them months and years later .

On my regular shafts I use a 1" ferrule. On my low deflection shafts I use a 1/2" and different material.

Call me curious, or not cheap, but I can't understand why price would even be brought into the conversation for ferrules, unless we are talking the old Micarta or ivory.

If people are buying a thousand dollar cue, why would they even worry about paying the few extra dollars for a better ferrule?

Good question. I'll answer for myself. I could care less what the ferrule cost if it's what I choose for my cues. When it comes to the so called better. That's quite debatable.

shorter ferrules

That was general statement. Larger manufacturing cue such as predator use shorter ferrules, as it reduces cost of production. Thank you for immediately telling us about how you build cues.

No such thing as deflection in a cue. Royce. God rest his soul, agreed 100 percent. Your use and others have perpetrated the myth.
Best wishes
Robert Harris

Atleast your consistent. Like clockwork you show up about once a month to prove what a dipshit you are. Please don't pretend for a second you could comprehend have of what Royce said. Your statement is either an incorrect interpretation or just a drunken lie.
