the above chart compares Predator shaft to bunch of garbage.and yes the Predator does deflect a few mm less than an Payers,Viking or Fury.wow, big surprise.i am sure many custom cuemakers would be up there on the list and even if they weren't a few mm really will not make much differenc once you are used to sit.i think Predator makes a pretty good shaft, but i really don't think it is necessary.lots of people buy them and stick with them for a few eeks as Predator suggest and then that is what they are used to playing with.they don't want to go back b/c their game will fall of for 2-3 weeks.

KJ is completely right, there are scientific studies with full mathematical proofs as to what causes deflection and it is certainly the mass of the end of the shaft. and a little amount of weight has a large effect. it is fact, proven rigorously and scientifically. if you want to read it and like physics and math, here is the link http://www.sfbilliards.com/Shepard_squirt.pdf

I learned a long time ago not to pay attention to anything anyone says; it what they do that really matters. Predator has spent more money advetising their product than I can even imagine. If what Predator says is correct then tell me why everyone that owns a Predator shaft isn't running rack after rack after rack? The truth is that Predator shafts do not improve anyone's game.

Good Cuemaking,

Great!!! You chumps play with a predator and I will give Mike Sigel a house cue. Any one want to bet? I didn't think so, CHUMP!!!

I'll take a house cue, you take whatever you want. You want to bet?
CHUMP!!!!!

If you learn to distinguish the BS from real facts, you might find that paying attention and listening is a good way to learn things too. ;)

Good Cuemaking,

At the local pool hall, I put a Preditor 314 shaft on one of my BLACK HEART butts. Then 3 good players hit 6 balls each(on a 9' table), from the same diamond to the corrisponding diamond at the other end. They all tryed to hit with a full tip of english. Then I changed the shaft to one of my flat laminated ones & repeated the test. As good as we could determine all of the balls came within an 1/4" of each other. 4 of the most accurate shots hit with my flat laminated shaft. were closest to the aiming point. Granted this is not very scientific, but I think it proved that a player is hitting the shots & not a machine. After all, that is who will be shooting your shots. All 3 of the people in this test said, they would rather have one of my shafts at $125 than the Preditor, for more than twice the price. Arnot is right, IT'S THE ARROW, NOT THE INDIAN...JER

i think the issue here is actually 2 things:

1. predator and other have certainly built a shaft that lower deflection and pretty significantly. the cause for deflection is proven, and it is the weight of the end of the cue.

2. whether a low deflection shaft makes you a better player in itself. i think this point is up for debate and will vary from person to person. certainly people have been playing pool quite well without these shafts. some of these people feel that switching to a low deflection shafts makes some aspects easier, some can't adjust after so many years of learning on a regular deflection shaft. but consider a more novice player who is just starting to learn side spin...a low deflection shaft may make that a lot easier. i don't think anyone can ever prove that one is better, but it can't hurt to have more options and let people use what they feel comfortable with.

I happen to think the flex point has something to do with it too.
But, who cares?

5-10mm over a distance of over 1000mm is not signifigant in my opinion.if you are that accurate with your stroke than it really shouldn't matter what you play with.one goog thing about Predators and a reason why so many use them is they are pretty much the same.you can go buy one off the shelf and for the most part it will play just like your old one.

Is that with parallel english or backhand?:)

I play in 3 leagues. On my BCA 8 Ball league there are 8 teams & no Preditor Qs or shafts. I'm in 2 other 8 Ball leagues, one with 22 teams & the other has 10 teams. There is one Preditor Q & 2 others using Preditor shafts. With 8 people on each team that means that there are less than 1 percent of our players using Preditor shafts. I think that there are fewer people using these shafts than we are lead to believe. Whether it's the cost or the lack of a need for this technology, I think there is a lot of talk, but not much buying...JER

well said and i agree.i think their data reports of how many pros uce them are skewed in their favor.maybe how many pros have ever used them in their life.

They counted BK2's in their count.
Also, how many have stopped using them?
I know Parica and Alcano did.
