filming your league matches

Greetings,

First off, I have an ulterior motive for asking this question, so I want that understood at the outset.

Do any of you guys/gals film your personal matches during league play for later analysis and improvement?

If so, what have your experiences been? If not, why not?

In my own case, I have found that filming myself during physical activies (golf, public speaking(!), pool, etc.), provides the single best path to improvement of that activity...

Thanks.

I haven't filmed any league matches, but I do try and film myself playing at least once a week; playing either for fun for serious. I go back and watch it several times looking errors in patterns, stance, etc... just to see if i'm being consistent, etc.

I would not film league matches unless the other team is cool with it. They are paying players and didn't neccesarily agree to be filmed and may get upset.

that said, if they agree, I'd try it out for sure. I might even burn copies of the matches for my opponets to use for themselves.

For sure...

reveal your motive. lol.

All in good time

(nothing sinister, I assure you...)

If someone asked me, I'd agree to let them film our match...but I'd consider them a nut for asking.

I film myself at times, but tourneys & leagues are another issue.

filming league

I do, but mine are one on one straight pool matches. I may take a peek at mine and if I get a good run or the other guy does, I will edit it.

I give my opponent DVDs of the match and most of them like having something to look at or show their friends or mates.

our host location (bar) has signs on the entry doors that video recording is in progress for security purposes , so our opponents are (or should be) aware they are being recorded . of the 14 cameras on premises , 2 hi-res cameras aimed directly at the felt (and only 3 @ the registers . . .hmmmm).
not only can i watch our play in frame by frame slo-mo later , but it's incredibly handy in 'close-hit' calls . . .
and if it prevents a fight , it's a security purpose

look around @ your host location - you might already be being recorded in hi-res digital . . . this is the 21st century . . .

I'd like to. I think that viewing myself would show THE flaws that cause me to miss specific shots, but .... seems like it would be VERY distracting for all of the players.

On that part, No. Not at all. Doubt they would even know it. Unless of course you had someone walking around with a camera. lol.

But seriously, I have filmed myself using my phone many times. Just find a perch (I just put it in an ashtray on top of a shelf which is close.) and hit play. Just come in ahead if time, make sure the zoom is set to the desirable distance, check the angles, etc.) My phone takes great video... and obviously it's very small. There are tons of very small video cameras, which Im certain wouldnt be noticed. WIth an extra memory card, doubt you would ever have to even touch it through the duration of the night. Then upload the vid to your CPU, edit and burn it to a disc.
