Final 6 at Turning Stone

Like Daz? They'd still represent their respective home countries. My personal pick is Oscar Dominguez to pick up where Shane left off. At least Oscar isn't afraid to get his ass handed to him.

He's got heart for sure. His dad flew to Turning Stone and took 5th /6th after a brutal scratch hill hill vs Earl.

Oscar , Bergman , most would say but my pick would be Billy Thorpe if he stays at it

I think that Skyler would have to be included in the conversation for potential world champ. He holds up well on the big stage, as evidenced by his mosconi cup appearance last year.

I agree that Shane just can't seem to get there in a major world championship. Seems to find a way to shoot himself in the foot. But Busti went without a world title for years and then finally broke his maiden. Shane has the sklill for sure.

so are we talkin history here? when was the last time a lady made it this far in a tourney this stacked?

Stacked? People were taking even money on Shaw winning this event, vs the ENTIRE FIELD in the Action Room!

This was not a "stacked" field, it was a field with one player who is pretty close to elite status, but who has not managed yet to knock off a major world event, and a bunch of other has been's and never were's.

Shaw was the clear favorite going into Turning Stone, he would have been hard pressed to be called a top 20 favorite in China this week with the field that event had. Case in point, Orcullo did not even make the final 32.

Stacked fields don't have people taking even money bets on one person to beat the entire rest of the event, quite the opposite.

Dechaine and Strickland both broke down mentally when things didn't go their way....the rack, the audience, the rolls and on and on. If they kept their heads, they might have gone further. With their attitudes they had no chance.

First off, congratulations to Jayson Shaw. The man is playing better than anybody in the world right now in my opinion. Also, congrats to Karen Corr. Proves that the best female players in the world can compete with the top male players in the world. On another note, why is there so much conversation in this article about Shane? What does Shane have to do with what happened this weekend at Turning Stone? There were very very good players that played in this year's Turning Stone tournament. Much better talent overall than the bar box championships in Vegas for sure. Of course the China Open had better overall talent. It was a World Championship event. And one more thing. I agree with Darren Appleton that the racking for every major tournament should be the same. Magic rack with 9 ball on spot. Would stop all the *****ing.

Shaw won the World Blackball in 2010.

I'll let it slide, because while being a legitimate major world event, it's probably not that well known.

Put the pipe down and slowly back away ,, the best where playing with the best in China and Jason and Karren had zero chance of winning there both knows that that's why they stayed inside thier box where thier comfortable and routinely finish high
It's a nice second for Karen I wouldn't have called her a big under dog in any match except against Shaw who was the favorite in every match he played
It is what it is

If you think Jayson was a big under dog if he went to China, then you know nothing about pool. He just played in the World 9 ball championship and beat Ko Pin Yi and Orcollo back to back. If you could win 7 or 8k and stay local or win 10k and fly to China, what would you do genius?
