First Effort at a YouTube video - Earl's 1st win

I just put a little (3.5 minute) video on YouTube. It's a slide-show video made up of images from the 1982 Dayton 9-ball Open. This was Earl Strickland's first big tournament victory as he bested Buddy Hall in the finals. The image quality in the YouTube video is, of course, considerably less than you would have when showing the images as a video directly on your computer. I just used the free Microsoft Photo Story software. It was kind of fun to put it together and took maybe 2 hours to do. Hope someone out there enjoys it! Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9hIhAuk7Qw

Thanks Bill, I enjoyed seeing the 'boys'. Louie looked good, Grady still had hair, and quiet Mr. Cook along with Spaeth and the others, good job.

Dayton Video

Bill,
Your video came out great! Thanks for posting it.
Best Regards,
Hal

As a young player i really appreciate you putting that up..kinda lets you konw how some of you "old timers" have been around.. I have a great deal of respect for what you have done and are still doing for the game..great post you get rep points from me for this...and no hard feelings about the old timers comment..ha ha ha

Very nice archive, and wonderfully done. The only thing I think that could make it even better is if you had names briefly appear (and then fade away) every time a new player appears. Some are easily recognized, but others aren't. Great job.

Bill, that was really enjoyable. I had to look close to recognize many of them - wow, great stuff, thanks.

People that us old timers might be able to identify

TATE, here are some of the characters in the slide show that you can probably pick out: Earl Strickland, Buddy Hall, Cornbread Red, Steve Cook, Louie Roberts, Mike Sigel, Gary Speath, Joey Speath, Jimmy Reid, Jimmy Marino, Danny Diliberto, Joe Kerr, Joe Burns, and Allen Hopkins

Taste Good Too

Couldn't have picked a better song too. It is done in great taste, Bill. Top notch work. Again I thank you.

Did you take the pics? They are really great, I can not believe how young Earl was and how skinny and that hair! What was her 21 or 22? You did a great job with your editing too.

Thanks!

Hey, you really know how to lay on those compliments. But I will gladly accept them.:D

Earl was 21 years old at the time I took those photographs.

Bill has Earl seen them?

Bill -

Have you passsed these along to Earl? He might get a kick out it.

Tate,
I did not have to look close to recognize any of Bill's subjects.
So maybe now I am admitting to my age, however I really enjoy seeing them all again.

Best Regards,
Hal

Bill, it flowed as though it was live film, I totally forgot that it was all stills.
Excellent affect.

Thank you,

Jimmy

About 10 years ago I told Earl that I had some photographs of his first major tournament win. As I recall, he said something like, "Ummm, Ok..." and turned and walked away. Now that he is a Hall of Fame guy, and a little older, he might have more interest. I told Tom Shaw (editor of Pool & Billiards magazine) that I would be glad to give Earl a nice set of prints from these images at the next DCC and he said he'd pass that along to Earl. We'll see.

I thought I saw Grady and Jimmy Mataya too. Sigel looks awful with a beard.
