First ever!!

That's such an awesome feeling! Congrats to you. Mine came when I was 17 and they never seem to come around often enough.lol

First ever break and run in 8 ball. Yes, I know to you pool pros here at azbilliards that's noob, but I'm still so ecstatic about it :D

Anyone else remember their first?

I don't remember my first break and run. But I do want to congratulate you on your first. It is something to be proud of. Now that you know you can do it, you should have more confidence in your game.

Use it as a positive image you can draw on when you're grinding back in a tough set.

The first, especially as a young boy (me at the time), is most memorable!

Yup, I certainly do. I was 8 years old at the time. And I submitted a nostalgic entry into John Barton's essay contest describing it, which got me a runner-up entry and a nice new Sterling Wave 4x8 case as the runner-up prize!

Here's my nostalgic story:

Congrats!

I do remember my first. She was a black haired beauty wearing flavored lipstick. Forgot her name though!

Getting back to pool, I honestly don't remember any of my "firsts". There wasn't anything that made me think it was so special I would want to remember it decades later. Now I wish I could remember the first break and runs, the first time I won a small tournament, the first time I beat a road player that I knew was a road player, but I never had a clue that I'd be typing on a computer all these years later thinking about it!

A very sincere congratulations, your first break and run is a big landmark. As has already been said, now you know you can do it. It changes things a whole lot when you look at an open table or one with just minor problems and say to yourself with total confidence, "I can get out from here".

Good for you bud! Running out will never lose its appeal or excitement. Every time I break and run (which is only once every two years or so, lol), it feels like Ive really accomplished something. Keep at it, and enjoy it!

Congrats on your 1st B/R pal :) just got to keep doing them time and time again, in practice and more so money/tournament matches....keep it up!

Congrats to you ! I don't remember my first but I'm sure I felt the same as you. Now your expectations have just been raised and your journey begins. Good for you

Congrats on your first break and run! I can only imagine how amazing that must feel!

With my luck I will be playing the ghost ball when I do it and have no witnesses! LOL

Good for you!

I don't remember my first......actually I only remember one cause it was special. I was tipsy and playing a stripper in a strip club, she had paisties and it was very difficult to concentrate.

I remember my first break and run. I was warming up for my Thursday night APA in-house 8-ball league. I was a 3 (it was my first season in the APA, and I didn't really play the game before that point), and I was warming up against a 6 on another team. I broke and started pocketing balls while he was ordering a beer and chatting with some of his team-mates, and gradually the chatting subsided as it became clear that I had a really good chance to get out, despite my meager skill and experience level. His brother teased him about how "the 3's in this league are too tough for you now, John." I finished the run-out (I don't specifically remember the layout at all, but I'm going to guess it was really easy), and announced that was my first ever break-and-run.

The rest of the night, I gradually announced to literally everyone in the league who I was on speaking terms with, and probably several people who I wasn't, that I had started the night with my first break-and-run. I was a little disappointed nobody bought me a beer. APA douchebags.

Anyway, it's a great feeling, isn't it? Someone on AZ once pointed out to me that despite how it is for the jaded pool-savvy crowd here on AZ, to a member of the general public "Watching someone run a rack is like watching someone walk up stairs on their hands." Congrats on doing something most normal people would consider amazing.

I'll buy you a belated beer! Oh wait, I'm 18, I can vote for who controls a nation, but can't buy a beer. LOL

Thanks for everything, guys! Now all I need is a pool table to practice. It gets so expensive always going out. :(

Congrats on your break and run. I'm only a so-so player but I've had several break and runs in my Community Eight Ball Tournaments. I remember the first one very vividly and can tell you the exact shots for each ball. When I ran all the solids and was shooting at the 8-ball, my bridge hand was tremblling slightly. Wow, what a rush. Sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep, I replay it in my mind. I think you'll remember it also and enjoy replaying it. Good luck and God bless.

Congratulations!

Yes, I can remember my first 8-ball break-and-run, because it was a week ago yesterday! :D

I'm still giggly about it, so I understand how you're feeling. I hope it always feels that way.

Here's to many more for both of us!

Congratulations on your first 8-ball break and run. Rep to you and to your future 8-ball runs.

Congratulations Ateam! Believe it or not, probably the majority of people who read here (and even some that post) have NEVER broke and run a rack of 8-ball. Even at the pro level, it doesn't happen as often as you would think. 9-ball is different, with much more B & R's available. Good luck to you in the future!
