First Live Stream for AZBTV

The video arm of AZBilliards, AZBTV, will be doing its first live stream telecast this coming Sunday from the tournament room of Johnny Archer and Kim Davenport's Marietta Billiard Club. We will be live streaming the semi's and finals of the Great Southern Billiard Tour event there.

We will post links to the live stream on Sunday. Now, here's the deal. AZBTV has watched lots of folks doing live streaming. None of them are glitch-free. Most of the first-time attempts have been fraught with jerky video and freeze-ups. We do not expect to be immune from these problems. But it will all be free as AZB firmly believes that content should be free to the viewer and supported via advertising.

So tune in Sunday and either watch some pool or get a few good laughs as we try out the training wheels on this live-streaming thing. If we can learn enough on this first outing we will be able to present a much better product as we will be doing a lot of free live-streams for you in the future.

Glad you guys are doing this,it should be awesome to see this brought to us live.If you guys need any help Mike has my number or send me a PM,I am on the same page with you about advertising and sponsors support bringing pool free to the masses, good recipe.

Thanks, Lenny!

Lenny, thanks for your assistance! We may be calling you in a panic on Sunday. In my trial runs I am having some problems keeping the browser from crashing. It works great for a while, then refuses to stay up. This happens both with Firefox and Safari (we are on MACs). I am going to try repairing permissions (same as defrag) to see if this helps. Restarting did nothing to help. Any 'stability' tips you have would be appreciated. We are running off the fastest Intel quad-2 processor (clock speed over 3 gig), with 4 gig of RAM and a 900-gig hard drive.

Best,
Jerry

 I am glad to see az start doing some live streaming. Hey if theres some problems I am sure JCIN and bignasty can offer some advice as well...GOOD LUCK!

That sounds strong enough to get a good stream, assuming no bottlenecks, glitches, sabotages? Assuming Mars is not in retrograde while black holes suck the vortex out of an HD DVD player, and no cannibals find fault with your A1.

Seriously though, best of luck! You must know how many people are pulling for all good for the pool world, and extra hard pull for AZB!

............ There's something brewing, different than ever before ..........

Ditto, Fast Lenny --

Looking forward to this Jerry, thanks!

Mike: it's looking good!

Streaming was pulled off without a hitch; very well done. Excellent quality for camera used; could use just a little more lighting.

Thanks to Johnny Archer and Kim Davenport's Marietta Billiards Club in Marietta, Georgia. Also to Jerry Forsyth for physically being there and staying up late past his bedtime and wife Fran for understanding as well as Mike Howerton for computer, monitoring event and making it happen.

me... I just sit here and listen to Mike ramble on about good ideas. It's fun.

A note about Marietta Billiards Club.... very nice place, lots of tables, private "Scorpion Room", leagues, poker, bar, etc. Mike and I played there a couple of months ago. If you have not had a chance to go.... get out there and see them.
